It is a shame. Unless I'm out of touch I find Melbourne lacks good electronic venues. It has a good music scene but not electronica.

*please tell me i'm wrong.
there are a few venues like this. la di da mentioned ng. i saw mosca at mercat cross basement on friday night which was an awesome show with a really cool vibe.

Yeah the mercat is a good venue with good acts coming through quite regularly. I love the monthly C grade party they have on there, its on this saturday actually you should check it out. Xhin is playing at Miss libertines this saturday as well, which isn't a bad venue, he will pump the techno out pretty hard though, the sound is not for everyone. Not to mention Paul Kalkbrenner at Brown Alley on friday night and then Wolf + Lamb at New Guernica on Sunday night. There is plenty of stuff around if you know where to look.

Was amazing! So so soooo unbelievably good...

Flight facilities - crave you AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!:heart::heart:

Mark Ronson - did not disappoint, so very very enjoyable, probs the highlight

Steve Angello - what a way to finish... my god!

yeah, essentially the mazda stage delivered big time.

Main stage was so disappointing, Ke$ha just proved she was crap and there were some major issues with the sound system - seriously! they needed to amp it up!

Oh and my fave - the afterparty! Steve f**king Aoki killed it! was crazy good, so worth the $50 entry!:thumbsu:

Had a pretty intense day.

As soon as I got in I need to take a piss and the group I was with had been waiting 10-15 minutes easily and by then had got sick of it and started to walk off. Just as they did the guy finally got out of the toilet so I was next in line but seeing as though my friends started walking off I made the decision to chase after them. Ended up that I couldn't find them, for the next half an hour I was running everywhere looking for them and couldn't find them. It didn't help that it was pissing down raining as well. Started calling another mate and also my little brother so I could meet up with them, almost an hour later I finally saw one of my other mates and his friends. Didn't help that I was tripping out hahaha I was seeing doubles and all. Couldn't stand properly and everything.

Can't remember any of the acts I saw on the side stages, only remember seeing Mark Ronson, The Presets, Pendulum and the Chemical Brothers.

Could also hear MGMT from quite a distance. Everything about them sounding good apart from the singing, sounded shocking so wasn't that annoyed at not seeing them properly.

I thought Mark Ronson was definitely the best I saw all day. When he played 'Bang, Bang, Bang' and 'Ride My Bike Til I Get Home' everyone was simply going nuts.

Likewise The Presets thought they were really good as well. 'My People' went off.

Pendulum were awesome but by 8pm my legs were well and truly knackered so didn't get into them as well as I should have. Was good though as just before Pendulum I finally bumped into my mates that I had lost at the start of the day.

At about 8:25pm we made our way to the Chemical Brothers. We didn't try and push through to the front as we were all really tired so settled for a spot near the middle or so. Thought they were absolutely fantastic, the visuals were quite spectacular. I picked they'd end the show with 'Block Rockin' Beats' as well and that was pretty sick. Wish I was still buzzing though and near the front, then the Chemical Brothers would have been the highlight.

Really good day overall, hopefully I can convince my mates to go to Cremfields in around 6-7 weeks I think it is. I'd definitely say Future 2011 was better than 2010 too. Although both days were filled with rain.

Dependig on what you're looking for in electronica i may be able to point you in the right direction.

Depending on the act i think new guernica is a great space for an intimate gig. Apparat there last year was one of the best nights i've ever had. Ame and Dixon smashed the shit out of the place a couple of weeks ago too.

I thought the Apparat gig was garbage. I love his music, and new guernica is a gorgeous venue, but the sound system is terrible. I hope it was better for Ame & Dixon, I would have seen them anywhere else.

Last year Theo Parrish in the front room of Revolver was my highlight. He played for over 5 hours, and it was amazing from start to finish. Holden was great too.

As for venues... I don't care as long as the sound is good. Table service and cute bartenders are a bonus.

I'm confused as the sound at revs is much worse than NG in my opinion but i do agree the sound at NG is not the best, as with a lot of venues in melbourne. I think Roxanne is the only venue that consistently has top notch sound. I will agree that Holden was amazing last year, Scuba the previous night at Roxanne was also great.
