Already one of the best mids on our list... Was just everywhere last night. I'm not really phased about missing out on the #1 pick last year, Gaff and Darling will be an amazing combo that look to be every bit as good as Swallow and Bennell. Woo hoo!!

Also, how was that pass to Nicoski? I'd love to watch the footage of that again- it looked to me like he faked kicking for goal and passed it off to the side straight to Nico. AWESOME!

Just quietly, I think Darling and Gaff will end up better than Swallow and Bennell. GC missed out!

I have seen him about half a dozen times for Souths and his ability to pick out the best option in a split second in heavy traffic and then hit the target is superb. His decision making and vision sets him apart at WAFL level and Im glad he is able to translate that to AFL level as well.

7. ANDREW GAFF (Oakleigh Chargers, 18, 182cm, 78kg)
Will get you in a death-by-a-thousand-cuts kind of way. He will run and run and run; his combination of pace and endurance will come in very handy given the changed interchange rules. Will be at every stoppage and, more crucially, his anticipation at ball-ups can be a split second ahead of everyone else. He doesn't possess one standout quality, but he does everything at a high level, and will work hard to be the best he can be. Amazing mental toughness.

The part I got most excited about was his putting his head over the ball this game. When he got the high free kick in the back pocket, I thought, yes, he's becoming more confident in his body now.
Was really excited about the quick hand to foot reflex to get that kick away to Nico as well, but the head over the ball excited me more.

Some of his decision making in close is so classy. The high-pressure chip kick to Nicoski and his give to Shuey to set up a goal standout in my mind.

Was our best in the first half.

Plus the big bomb from outside 50. Got that from recieving a handball. His a switched on kid. Knows how to find the footy

Agreed, swannies. I saw him jumping onto a loose ball in a stoppage against a much bigger Saints player, and had about 3 efforts just continually jumping in for the ball. Was good to see.

I was on the Heppell camp pre draft but now glad we picked up Gaff, he will be very damaging player when he gets a few years under his belt.

btw.....anyone know how the other name mentioned with us for pick 4 pre draft Jared Polec is doing?

Showed encouraging form I think prior to being struck down with a season ending knee injury.

Could be totally off but fairly certain that's the case.
