Rumour Gaff meeting with Bombers...

I don't believe this for a minute but if we're going to dislodge players like Matera and Rich, we're going to have to move someone with value and that could be Gaff.

Having said that, it's a totally bogus rumour. Brian Taylor hates us and doesn't know his arse from his elbow.

so he's certainly going then...why do every single one of our high victorian draft picks want to leave?

I know the man, and he would be very disappointed with how his career has unfolded so far (opportunity wise). He sets very high standards for himself and has a lot of close friends and family in Melbourne.

You cant know him that well. He was playing in the side until he went back to the WAFL to get match practice and he did his hammy. He hasnt been left behind at all.

And to think a kid that grew up in Melbourne has friends and family there?!!!!

i remember reading he was keen to push straight into the side, but surely he knows he needs to crawl before he can walk. I agree he should have more opportunities though, he has been great for us. Would rather he got opportunities if it meant him staying- give masten/ebert more wafl time perhaps, but i highly doubt the wce hierarchy will bend over kids who have been there for a bit longer (such as ebo and masto), so a kid in his 1st year can get some game time

If a first year player thinks he deserves to walk into an AFL side then holding them back and making them earn it is much better for the long term.

He's 18yo and has played 6 AFL games already. He's played 3 games in the WAFL, and has missed a game or two with a hamstring. There's nothing there to be disappointed about.

If he needs a reality check, maybe he should talk to Shuey. Gaff is half-way through his 1st year, and he's already played as many games as what Shuey had in his first 2 years. I suspect the disappointment is yours, not his, in that you wish you could say you know an AFL rising star. Well don't worry. You'll be able to brag to your mates that you know a great AFL player soon enough.

Could be nothing. Could be something. Either way its not worth worrying about at this point in time.

Exactly. Not worth worrying about.

Good young player but if he leaves we trade for something in return. As for opportunity, Gaff has played what 4-5 games already? He played round 1 FFS so that is being given opportunity and he knows he is a pretty light player and needs to get stronger.

Three way deal with a Melbourne team somehow to get Matera or a Bennell or an U17?

Who did Gaff support as a kid?

This.
He's competing with Rosa and Embley for a spot, and they've been playing very well.
It sounds like BS and completely out of character but if it were to be the case, players that expect a spot in the team have no place in the team, just ask Mitch Morton.

how come all you guys get a panic button on here, and i dont?...i cant find mine anywhere?

gossip is gossip.

all players who enter the draft agree that they will sign a 2 year contract with the club that drafts them

so unless the bombers want to pay massive overs to dislodge a contracted 18 year old top 5 pick, then he's not going anywhere

I believe he would stay.

Right now we have a balanced coaching staff with the inclusion of
Mr no -nonsense Teague, and the rest and with guys like Shuey, Natanui around.
Dont discount the continual improvement of Scott Selwood.
I believe it will a good place to learn about the game.

The thing is according to Woosh we will really be hitting our straps next year.

By the way if Fremantle get all there best players back, gees watch out.

Anyone suggesting that Gaff would be disgruntled with his "lack" of opportunities would have to have rocks in their head. He's a first year player and has done really well, but you have to walk before you can run. I am sure Gaff is happy with the opportunities he's been given, but some of the stuff in this thread is bizarre.
