What a disgusting display of umpiring. Did every thing they possibly could to keep the eagles in it. Absolute disgrace. Surely umpiring of this vomit inducing level cannot continue in a supposedly professional league.

They didn't cover themselves with glory today, was disappointed that we booed them though, they didn't change the result so it would have better if we could have just moved on.

Not the best looking win, but winning ugly is still nice. The Eagles were up for it today and to come away with a win shows how much improvement we've made. Happy to be 3rd on the ladder and we have to win next week to start cementing our place in the top end of the ladder.

Not sure why you're so anti-Eagles. They're good to watch when up and about. Umpiring was piss weak for both sides imo.

And no mention of Hurley!! He made us so much more steady when he went down back.

We beat the umpires today, Eagles were our second challenge. Great stuff Dons to beat both.

Absolute scrap of a game, glad we got the win. A game like this would have been a loss in previous years.

As for the umpires; WOW, just WOW. Surely the free kicks to them were 40+, absolutely KILLER.

Brisbane in Brisbane coming off an embarrassment will be a test.. but hopefully the new look bombers will use it as another chance to show they are not the same side of the last 5-6 years..

They did change the result. WC got their last couple from dodgy frees/50s I think, and not to mention Kerr's 50 at the start. 3 frees and a 50 against in the opening 3 minutes of play.

I hate bagging the umpires, but they deserve all they get after that rubbish. I've never seen a more one sided umpiring affair. Disgraceful.

The part that was most obvious for me was with both sides playing hard forward press was how the game flowed to the side that won the middle. The side winning the clearances was holding it forward and keeping the other side out of the game.

The other thing we did was play dumb footy at stages. Just bombing it long out of defense knowing there where Eagles players sitting back and also going back to kicking backwards . Switching is ok but we kicked way too far back allowing the Eagles press to move forward.
They needed to back themselves and take a few of the short 20 meter forward options that where on and to do it quickly.
When we slowed down a bit and took better options be got away from them in the third quarter. Pushing back quickly and tacking the short options and then finding space in the middle.

After being at the game it's always interesting to read back through these Gameday threads at the end of it. Such a roller coaster of emotions, especially with a game like the one we saw today.

Oh and to the WCE poster, Quinz, continually moaning about injuries, particularly one to that defensive maestro (lol), Eric McKenzie, who missed the game... it would of been great if we had Tayte Pears, Dempsey, Winderlich amongst numerous others playing for us today but hey shit happens and you're not the only team in the AFL who regularly has players from their best 22 missing.

We've had a very good run with injuries this year tbh.

Just the one team we couldn't afford to have KPDs out against was Essendon, and our second KPD withdrew after being named in the team- actually if I had to pick any injury that would impact the game most for us it probably would have been Emac. Not to mention Essendon's forward entries were at a much higher quality than ours.

But we should have put the game away in the first half, no excuses. When you dominate the inside 50s and clearances the way we did and only hold a two goal lead, you don't leave much room to work with when the opposition gets a run on.

Best of luck for the season. Hopefully we both get to enjoy September for a change.

Hahaha good old Quinz! We should have led by more at halftime HAD we kicked straight but we didn't so shit happens but at least both sides showed some good signs.

Congrats on the win guys, your side was better on the day and we missed our chances but both sides are building towards success and I hope that we can enjoy a good and long rivalry with our improving sides.

Well done Bombers,good solid win and you guys are definately looking a top 4-6 team.Reimers is a very uncanny player and pops up just when needed, 3 goals in about 8 mins!!!!
We need to capitalise on our fwd 50 entry dominace and get our kicking at goals more accuarate and the result could of been different.
Positives for both teams though.
