I have just posted this on the Collingwood board. I am lead to believe that Gavin Brown will be leaving Collingwood to take up an assistant coaching role with you guys.

As much i dont want to see Rowdy leave if it is the case i wish him all the best at North Melbourne. He is a great Collingwood man and im sure he will give you guys the same great service he has given Collingwood.

That is awesome if true.

I think if we can get Carey as a forward coach and Crocker if he stays will add a lot. If you throw Gavin Brown in, we would have a very godo mix of assistants.

One thing I havn't mentioned in fear of being shut down, is S.Crawford for a specialist midfield role. He would teach our players a lot, and show them that gut running gets reward.

I would LOVE that. Plenty of Collingwood people I know would not think it a fair deal to get Buckley in exchange for losing Scott and Brown, we'd be huge winners. It would be interesting if he considered an assistant's role outside Collingwood a better opportunity than running his own VFL team - unless of course he was thinking that might be taken away from him sometime soon.

Let's wait and see - as always, TWT.

A Collingwood CEO, coach and now assistant, why are we raiding the cupboard of a club that has won one flag in 50 years?

Don't get me wrong all of these people have value to add at our club but for some inexplicable reason we seem to have a love affair with all things Collingwood at the moment, case in point the above and our wooing of Buckley as well.

I suppose it could be worse, it could be Richmonds culture that we were trying to emulate.

Great sign if true that Scotts willing to surround himself with higher celebrated/taller(Primus) figures. If can attract some names like Rowdy success will follow. Daly must go now and no more than Gavin from the Wobbles.

Flags or not, they are doing plenty right that we can benefit from. I expect it's a combination of having a CEO who has close contacts, and there being a shakeup with the succession plan there that has left a few very good people open to offers. I suspect also JB believes that culturally it's probably the closest to North of the off field success story clubs, so we can learn a fair bit about how to re-establish solid ground with our supporter base, image and identity.

Just don't be getting too hot in the pants about Wayne Carey as a forward coach. I think that is less than likely just at this point.

Was a bit of a giveaway when Glyon avoided the North connection on calcified. Settle in elsewhere for a year or 2?

I can't argue with your thought process H2H, I think you may be right on the money as Bucks appointment would of spelled the end of a few potential careers at the pies. Still somehow I feel a bit dirty with so many woodsman around the club, i'm gonna have a bath.

why must daly go?? if he does a good job and is well respected why must he go, surely he is a small player in the scheme of things

Mate.

Take a long hard look at yourself.

"A former forward scout at Collingwood, he joined the Kangaroos when Dean Laidley, who worked with him at the Magpies, was appointed senior coach in 2003. Was previously the player welfare and development manager and forward scout, but is now the club's opposition coach".

There's 3 reasons.

Been here long time in some fairly dark and negative times.
Was recruited by Laidley who only picked little blokes or blokes with less charisma then himself.
He's basically a nobody.
Power etc matchups of a sad negative midfield and defensive half forwards.
Either has been a yes man or has contributed to our crowds/negative plodder style.
Collingwood connection wont help him now Scott and possibly another wobbler make the transition. Too much North is a problem, too much Pies is hell.
Why keep when the club is shedding its skin?

You are blaming Danny Daly for our crowd figures?

He was an absolute champion as a player.

Yep, and as I said the other day, he was Archer's hero and idol! No wonder Arch had the traits he did. Utterly fearless and team first footy always. Like Arch, he was forced to play taller than his stature, lining up at FF on many occasions on the gorillas. As a wingman, his most suited position, he was up there with the best ever.

BTW.......the day he entered Collingwood he looked similar to Sam Wright. A year later he was built like the proverbial brick shithouse!!!! I hope, if Rowdy does come on board, that he takes young Sammy under his wing and teaches him what HE did to go from stick man to rock. I can tell you, it was ALOT of very hard work. He'd be fantastic at our club, if he comes.
