Think you'll find it's not one of their mates starting a rumour, they have had lengthy discussions with Belmont and the Lions are pretty confident of getting signatures sooner than later. If you can believe what they say it could be in the press by tomorrow? But as we all know, talk is cheap and you've got nothing until a contract is signed.
Yeah quite true

You seem to have the inside word? According to the article whoever it is is 99.9% over the line which would suggest a done deal. So by that logic I guess we just wait for the announcement.

It could also be one of his mates starting a rumour.. You'll find those lads are always stitching each other up
It's called taking on a challenge, beginning with recruiting mates and former team mates. No one takes on this role without having some sort of ego and pride in themselves of being a leader, teacher, tactician, psychologist and steering the ship at the senior level. If Ash and Dylan take on the job they will be successful and the ship can be turned around very quickly at GDFL level, a lot harder to turn the ship around at GFL level.
I suspect the job is there's if they want it, and first on the agenda will be retrieving 5-6 of there 1 point juniors from GFL and BFL seniors

Without sitting down and going thoroughly over it, I would say :
Vermuelen - St Albans
Dubbledams x 2 -Sth Barwon - one currently overseas
Sanzaro - Newcomb
Jay Kirwood - playing good footy in St Joeys twos
Leigh Ellis -Grovedale ( and killing them )

The president must enjoy sacking coaches. Sacked barry when at Corio now tanner.
It's a results driven business, and unfortunately as much as I like Grant as a bloke, the results were poor. Sure he mightn't of had the cattle, but he didn't attract any substantial cattle either. So it's the best result for both parties, GT has the opportunity to be an experienced coach first in line in the market place to take on a new role at another club, and the club will be 2 months ahead of the competition in gaining the services of some quality cattle.
In 12 months time I firmly believe all participants on this site and the league followers will say it was a very wise decision from the President George Baker showing some spine and getting on the front foot to turn the ship around. The recruiting will already be under way without a doubt

Some handy players there. Would be nice for you to get them all back indeed.

u wanna build a side quickly.. 3 key steps. I was around thomson when we went from bottom to finals in a year. 1 gotta keep everyone u got coz ur senior players this year need to b ur depth players nxt yr. and I heard a few leaving belmont so there goes that one. 2 coaches need to bring 2-3 redy made gdfl guns to set the standard create a buzz. 3 blokes like mikhali, stanciu, mackenzie, edge n ur 1 pointers are gold. Gotta get em back. but nobody will go back.. so unless they bring a side with them belmont wont b any good next yr

You seem to have a the inside word Stuey, what makes you think the players that have departed under GT aren't going to come back. I'm being told 100% differently to what your forecasting.

You've got to also look at culture. Belmont brought in a coach known for his love of getting on the piss to a club that is known for its drinking culture... Already a bad combination from the start. On field performance isn't just about recruiting blokes that can play expecting them to bring success. You need to build a strong culture. Take a look at BPH. They have kept largely the same list through their dynasty and keep winning flags because they work hard as a single unit...thats the culture they have built and is what they expect from incoming players.

As you said, it's still July. A lot of water to go under the bridge between now and round 1 next year, I'm sure a lot of people wrote off Thomson for the following season and they turned it around.

Not saying Belmont will be a contender, just think it's a bit naive to write them off already.

culture plays a massiv part in success. n ur right its driven by leadership groups n coaches. I kno ash whitney came from bph but hes an erratic guy who wont set the standard at a club thats lost its way. mcnamara might go with so that helps bt ill reserve my judgment on that appointment.. bet they dont start preseason in january this time...

Where has the Andrew challis appointment come from?
Havnt heard anything about it?

Viola from g/West. Could he be available for a club. Didn't say he was definitely be having a year off?

could be a big offseason. ud think corio, thomson, east geelong and belmont shuld all be seeing what coaches r out there.

so shuld north geelong 9 changes on the wknd nearly cost em against east.. i herd the boys were drinkin friday night so good call to drop em but id rekon doggy being the guy he is wuld be fed up. wen the coach asks the players for the time n they say build a watch its time to go a different direction. the players have given the club a good stint alredy n they get offers to leave every yr.

banno, winch, geelong west n bph all settled. Grace wuld b going again at anakie id imagine and im not sure about werribee or inver but i cnt see to much changin there
5 vacant jobs all at once ud reckon viola takes one of em. hard to say no to $15g

How concrete is the Challis appointment? I was led to believe Nolan had another year to run! Massive coup if this is correct.
Will they be co-coach or Challis one out? Super fit and talented player

If Inver choke again and don't make the grand final will they look for a change?

Hard to see the Drysie boys going around again at Thommo, especially if Brent leaves OG
