its the kids that are around the football ground i was talking about,
and yeah great way to get respect and hav your players listen to you by swearing at them:thumbsdown:
hes clearly not a good speaker and not a good coach, nor a FOOTBALLER it was reserves best and fairest in gdfl in 1920! because that makes him a good player:thumbsdown: (and it was 1 bnf not many)
just a great bunch of footballers that can handle no coach, coz thats pretty muc h what the have- get ur facts right he won more than one idiot ;hes a well respected man at nth and local footy in general. think hes ur HERO yep ur HERO come on u want 2 be him well 2 bad theres only room 4 one champion and thats him the greatest coach the unbeaten u18s coach and one of the greatest rovers ever 2 play local footy;)
How far down was your tounge at this stage? ohhh yeahhhhhhh your the "BEST AT IT":thumbsu:

Everyone has their own opinions. Mine is that "Cookie" is a normal coach that his players get along with well, and respect highly. I don't know about you but i'd rather take orders from some one i liked and respected than from some one i don't like. So in my opinion that makes him a very useful coach of North Geelong.

why must we talk about north all the time ?
its not an interesting subject there ladder position is set,
maybe an interesting topic would be the 4 teams fighting for the last 2 finals spots, east & inverleigh should hang on but bannockburn and thomson could both squeeze home.. any thoughts

Thomson wont make finals. thats easy. Bannockburn are the only ones outside the 5 that pose any real threat. Im not sure what their run home is like though. I personally hope its hard :p

yeh i agree mate, thats a more interesting subject, after looking at the results bannockburn have been travelling along ok, beating finals teams inva and corio and werribbee earlier in the season and narrowly going down to east, can any bannockburn players tell us have they got ppl back or have players stepped up? who is playing good footy down at tiger-land? yeh i hope they have a tough run home too because they are a proven finals force and generally a tough competitor, cudnt see them stopping the magpie train tho

Noone has come back in nor stepped up, banno just seem to have finally started playing well together. I no a few of the boys dont want to be part of a bannockburn U18 team to not make the grand final let alone finals so they have all just pulled there heads in, They r a good finals team having been in the past 10 or 11 grand finals, dont have a good run home and might struggle to make finals which will be dissapointing

thomsons run home is fairly easy, looking good to take 5th spot :thumbsu:

Yeah, but they are pretty bad:p

thomson did get wegener and mcfarlane back from seniors 3 weeks ago (Mcfarlane and wegener this past week ) but still miss chris tilson badly i cant see them getting near north but there only a smidgen off inverleigh, east & corio's quality i think werribee are another click ahead again though.

Chris Tilson isnt coming back is he? Someone told me he had to work every saturday morning. haha.
East played Thomson and won by 40 points - Thomson had wegener and mcfarlane in their team..

Thomson wont make finals. Their only chance is their easy draw. next 2 weeks is BPH and winch i believe? and had winch last week.

tilson will be back when he sees we will be playing finals, dont see a loss let alone a 40 point happening again against east ;)

Wouldnt work take precedent over footy? Why dont you see a loss against east happening again? You guys lost by 40 points at your home ground, and east play best when they are at home.

Also, i just looked at Thomson's draw, and out of the remaining games, i can see you winning 1. That's this week against Winchelsea. Next week you have East, then you have Banno i think it was, which you MAY beat, then Corio who smashed you last time, then Inverleigh who also beat you comprehensively, then North Geelong, who undoubtedly will pummel you into the ground. Where do you see these wins needed to make the top 5 coming from? The most you can win out of 5 more is 2, and East and Corio, who are both 2 games ahead of you, have an easy game, so they are a certainty to finish above you, while Inverleigh also probably has an easy game. So....how will you make finals?

inverleigh didnt win comprehensively, they won by 7 points, also, they are capable of beating corio, goin down by only 5 points the 1st time (with the last kick of the day), and as for bannockburn, they beat them by 77 points last time, so they are 3 games they can definately win, and winch this week is an easy win on the board. So... thats how they can make finals :thumbsu:

also, with thomson and east geelong, anything can happen, and thomson are capable of winning that too. So thomsons run home doesnt look as bad as first though hay??

AND, one last thing, thomson is not 2 games behind east and corio, they are one win behind them, and 2 points behind inverleigh

I doubt that 2 or 3 players will save Thomson's finals hopes. As for the 77 point victory against Bannockburn, they were a different team then. They now have 7 new players back or so which they have managed to keep a lid on quite well. They performed well against The C's if i am not mistaken so that will probably be a big blow to their finals campaign. Also, this is a side that only beat winch by 30 points. . .

A side of more interest are the Werribee Central's. As i hear, they won't be getting Dev back because their seniors will qualify for finals so he wont play enough but Dave Gamble will be back for them after having ear surgery. Werribee have gone remarkabley unnoticed in discussion in the bigfooty forums given their climb on the ladder. How will they go in the finals? :p :thumbsu:

All valid points there, but Corio and Inverleigh are both strong sides, where i dont see thomson as a very strong side. Ive played against all 3, and corio and inverleigh were both much better sides, IMO.

As for saying with east and thomson anything can happen, thats right, but anything can happen with winch vs north too. East are a better team, and they showed that by beating thomson by 40 points the first time round, at godfrey street. The next time they play, which is next week i think it was, its at richmond cresent, where east geelong play their best footy.

And for that last point, the wins and points confused me. haha. sorry bout that:thumbsu: and this is just a quick question, but with the teams that had a bye at the start of the year, when G west were trying to get a team, as well as anakie, why did they keep the points they got from those games?

Banno did lose to thomson horribly last time, but since then, you would definately notice Banno have improved a fair bit since the start of the year.

I played against Werribee the other week, and compared to when i played them at the start of the year, they seemed roughly the same. Very good at getting players loose, and using them effectively (most of the time).
I have no idea how good they will go in finals :p. Do they step up in big game situations?

my thoughts on the teams so far...
Thomson- started of well and very phisical, but seem to tire quickly!
East- rely heavily on 1 or 2 blokes, but one of the better sides!
Corio- front runners, if they get a sniff they will play good footy, but if u bury them early heads will b down all day!
Inverleigh- expected more, not as good as i thort, if any1 drops out of 5 would expect it to b them!
Nth Geelong- not much to say really, speak for themselfs!
Banno-most improved altough poor game against winch on the w.e,
i would predict them to make finals b4 thomson!
Werribee- obviously bench mark over the past couple of years, good finals team, will b good to see if the younger blokes will step up come finals time!

since round 6 basically my first game for the year and the begin of our lapse :) haha, we have been steadily improving one thing i always thought we lacked was a functionality in our back half something we as a group of 6 or 7 have worked incredibly hard on bringing, in the last 4 weeks we had a guy from St Mary's come over and has booted 10 goals in those 4 matches and gives a focus in the forward 50, again something we lacked early in and especially since tilson left us, it is possible that we could get rolled again by east, results dont show it but our teamwork and movement from the back half has become really good, id like to see where we are at against East, but would be dissapointed if we didnt give winch a good hiding this week, they flooded heavily last time and made it hard for a somewhat disfunctional forward line to score goals.. i guess we will find out in coming weeks ;)

Looking at Thompsons draw and it looks like they have a difficult run home. I expect them to win this week, but against east they will have to step up, and same with banno nippin at there heels looking to gain a top 5 spot. The big one if the ladder stays the same will be thompson v inverleigh. Thompson will need to win that one if they are to stay in the tope five because they have North the next week, and they are not a good chance to win atm with the form North is in. Inverleigh run home looks fairly easy. I expect them to win atleast two of there last 5. However question marks over East, Thompson and Corio now with the draw against werribee last weekend. Tipping Corio to win 3, posibbly 4 out of their last 5 games but i think east will prove to strong for them. East to win 3 out of the last 5 however they play bell post hill twice. Inva and corio games are two they could lose. Now werribee have surprised me with that draw, did they have players out? but i still expect them to win the last four out of 5. i think North might do it again. I dont expect North to drop a game for the year, but nething could happen. Banno are in with a slim chance but they cannot drop a game from here on in. But they play North twice, werribee and thompson. Very hard games to win. I predict the ladder to be something like this

1. North Geelong
2. Werribee Centrals
3. East Geelong
4.Corio
5. Inverleigh

I no its the same as it is now, but i dnt expect it to change.
It is still a long ways out, but the two teams i expect to see play off for the flag would have to be North Geelong and possible East Geelong. any thoughts?

East are overrated they have had a fairly easy fixture so far, they lost to Inverleigh(twice), Corio, Werribee and North.

Werribee beat them fairly easily only a couple of weeks ago (5 goals) and North beat them by about 10 goals.

Cant see east playing in the grand final.

The problem with east is definately last quarter fade outs, and not playing the full quarters, always dropping off in the last 2 or 3 mins where their opposition kick goals.

North were only up by 4 goals vs east at 3 quarter time, but then east did nothing.
They lost to corio in the last 1 minute of the game, and lost to inverleigh once when by 4 points i think.
They are capable of beating both inver and corio IMO

Also werribee didnt beat them fairly easily. again, it was in the last quarter east dropped.

If they fix that problem, they would be set.
