Any updates on this wonderkid set to dominate the competition.

Is he due for a game, or is he going to be shielded from Hawthorn's depleted backline?

If he does fluke a game and does jack shit he will have been twice as impressive as last time.

Give the kid another go I say, let him see the best first hand.

Give him a ground level view of the Buddy/Roughy show, if nothing else it will show him "how to play the game".:)

So what? Is he up to it?

If he's fit and doesn't play Friday forget about him.

We can only fit 22 players in the side. If Thorp's fit and doesn't play, are you going to forget about him too?

Word of advice shotta: Next time you post, type standing up. That way, you won't be cutting off the oxygen supply to your brain.

Thorp will play Friday, hopefully Hawkins can do the same and show the world how good he is:thumbsu:

Thorp? Oh, taken before Selwood Thorp? Oh, yes, that Thorp.
Comparing a KPP to a midfielder about to start his third year is not very wise. Thorp will do well this year, and eventually become a gun utility that you'll discover you're severely lacking in a few years time. And Selwood will probably be retired after his knees completely shatter from all of the bone on bone stuff.

I believe it's more Thorp and Hawkins they're talking about.

That's true KPP always take longer to mature as players ....oh wait:eek:

You're right. We need another dud forward and could do without one of the best midfielders in the league. ;)

At the risk of giving your shit troll any sense of credibility...

Depending on our structure, we may or may not play Hawkins. Depends on whether Lonergan, who is probably further up the pecking order than Hawkins atm, plays forward or back, I suspect.
The coaching staff see Hawkins as a player they expect to mature into his role over the next 2 seasons. Very normal for a boy of his size, particularly as he has struggled with foot injuries and has yet to have a fully fit pre-season.
And for those Hawks idiots that like to slam his weight...I suggest you re-think your judgement...the kid has worked very hard over the summer and is ripped.
Once his confidence settles with opportunity, he will be a more than serviceable KPF.

He took one really good FF's mark in the Nab final. Haven't seen a Geelong forward do that in ages. He will be your #1 forward by midyear I'd expect, but you have to commit the FF slot to him and let him make mistakes.

Also, you should hope the NAB final is a better example of his inside 50 marking potential than his inside 50 goal kicking accuracy.

We're not comparing Hawkins to anyone, nor are we slamming his weight or work-rate.

Our interest is that he's just a shit footballer (and can't kick goals under pressure... he is a father-son after all) and the sooner you stop talking him up, the easier it will be when he's delisted next year.

Completely accurate assessment :thumbsu:

So I can now start talking up Mitch Brown? Or Scott SImpson?

I think he has actually kicked more goals than Franklin had to this stage of his career.

EDIT: Yes he has. Hawkins has played 15 games for 24 goals 14. In his first 20 games Lance had 21 goals 13.

Carry on.

You obviously missed last night's Footy Show, where it was reported the last surgeon who inspected Selwood's knee before he was drafted said it was structurally sound and able to withstand the rigours of AFL footy.

But we should believe a BF flog over a surgeon, shouldn't we?

I like what ya did there.

So if he plays and kicks a few it's only because it was against a depleted backline?

Care to have a friendly wager that he'll kick 2+ goals?

Only this time don't welch.
