Geelong v ?? mega shitfight thread - putting it out to tender again.

Geelong and Aint Kilda used to have a bit of a rivalry a few years back and should revive it now the Saints are on the rise and have the Cats measure. They both showed their complete lack of class by trying to punch up injured players when they were trying to leave the ground. Also, the Handbags stole a Grand Final from the Dwarf Burners, there was the "goal" that hit the post that Porkins wasn't man enough to own up to and neither were the umps and the throw to that bald, head ducking flog Chappy in the goal square to steal the game was embarrassing, if the Handbags had any self respect they would have handed the flag to the Saints.
If your "loyal" supporters had any self respect they would go back and hide in their cave like you were in the mid 90s.

Hawthorn love hanging around Geelong threads and beating their chests about something that happened 10 years go. This was maybe fun 5 years ago but it has grown a bit stale...A lot of water has passed under the bridge since 08

This is why I'm opening up auditions for a new rivalry. Posts your applications here.
Naturally, I was lured in by your well-baited hook of a thread title and curious to see what you'd written. But your OP doesn't really have any weight behind it which was slightly disappointing. It has however illustrated something I'd never previously considered: Geelong don't have any other rivalries besides Hawthorn. No wonder you're all so obsessed! :p

Friendly ribbing aside, Geelong fans noticeably hate Hawthorn way more than the other way around. Obviously the 2008 GF was a bitter pill to swallow for many Cats fans. (You're still referencing it a decade later!) You'd think winning the 2009 and 2011 flags would salve the disappointment. I'd have also thought Geelong's 11 straight wins during the Kennett Curse would exorcise the demons of '08. But the Geelong hatred for us only seemed to intensify during this period, which was a strange, strange phenomenon.

I think the Handbaggers' lingering obsession is mainly due to the way Hawthorn immediately overshadowed the greatest period in Geelong's history. One moment, the Cats fans are bragging about being the greatest team of all time. Nek minnit… Hawthorn reaches four successive Grand Finals and wins a Premiership hat trick.:D

It must've really sucked to see the club you hate most render Geelong's golden era as a mere footnote in history.

BTW, I asked you a question couple of weeks ago and I'm still waiting for a response. What punishment Geelong has settled on for their captain being caught driving 30km/h over the speed limit & losing his drivers licence and costing his club a $250,000 sponsorship with the TAC?? A club which prides itself on values, character and leadership in the community will want to set the right example. Surely they won't pretend it never happened purely because of the person involved and the embarrassment it has caused?

How many cups did you maybloomers win in your first 50 years??....Less than 3

How many VFA pennants did you win???

Mate ... I can only talk about what I've seen in my lifetime ... And let me just say, I am blessed to support such a "successful" club.
..... 11 flags over a 40 odd year stretch ... against the Handbaggers measly 3 "Dank-assisted" cups.

We'll make it 14 before you Feline's make it to double figures ... Enjoy your 50 year hiatus :thumbsu:

Hi Bay,

As many of you have noticed Hawthorn love hanging around Geelong threads and beating their chests about something that happened 10 years go.

Im a bit late to the thread. Timezones.

So what happened 10 years ago? 2 page summary would be nice.

Need some reading material while I lounge by the pool.

If the cats can get away from their obsession with the Hawks and actually have a rivalry with another club then this is the endless circle jerk supporters will have to endure.
This petrified shit never gets old & should hold the cat fans in good stead for at least 5 more years.

essendone, make it happen.

This has turned into another horks v kittens catfight!

Stop it, we demand better, newer shitfights godammit!!!

Sydney are the only true contenders for this title given their impressive progression towards matching the handbaggers legendary run of 3 GF losses in 4 years.

I'm on board the Sydney B2B!

If the cats can get away from their obsession with the Hawks.
One group of supporters spend a fair chunk of time on the others board ... put two and two together pal.

I'd like to nominate Richmond. Sure, we haven't beaten Geelong in our last 10 or so meetings, but neither did Hawthorn for awhile there, and that didn't seem to matter much. :rainbow:
12 in row and 19 of the last 20 to be precise.

Then If you go back a little further you'll find Geelong have won 42 of the last 50 games. Impressive eh! :handfist:

First it was Handbaggers bragging about H&A wins, then VFA "premierships", now beating Richmond. :$

Could EFC and the Cats have thread shit fighting over who had more influence on their club?

A - Bomber Thompson

B - The Weapon

C - The Dank
Well we all know who had the most influence with your clubs success.
