You have the two oldest football clubs in the world playing against each other so what have V/Line decided to do ??
Apparantly V/Line employees are not allowed to use the word "bus", they must always say "coach". But this is not your normal buses departing Southern Cross with most going straight over the West Gate towards Geelong type of thing, it is only a "part" replacement. You will be required to catch a train from Southern Cross to Wyndham Vale, where you will then be required to change to a "coach" towards Geelong. The stupidity of this is that the only way a bus can get from Wyndham Vale station to the Geelong Freeway, they have to go backwards towards Werribee before they can then head towards the freeway.
I think V/Line tried this sought of thing for a Geelong/Melbourne game a couple of years ago. The day before the game V/Line suddenly decided they could get a couple of trains through the works so they could get people to the footy.
Maybe V/Line might need a few emails to encourage them to do the same thing. I hope some sanity can prevail.
Looking forward to seeing you at the game and hope you enjoy the increased capacity stadium for the first time.

I caught a bus replacement last week to come down Saturday from Benalla to Southern Cross, Which is all part of the Albury line and by further extension Sydney

then train from southern to Cheltenham, then bus replacements from Cheltenham to Frankston (staying at a friends), then the same in reverse back the next day for a game

There are line works everywhere at the moment (Albury Melbourne line with a lot of works for inland rail to actually make the line between Melbourne and Sydney somewhat of a decent standard) But like okay? Coach replacements suck ass but we're still living in the era of easier and assessable travel? Like it sucks but it's not that bad or at least you need to think it's not. It's still a modern convenience that there's replacement services running for a start

Yeah, drove down last week as v/line decided to replace with coaches just for Sunday from Gippsland.

Took away my plan to get obliterated with some mates but probably worked out for the best, alcohol would not have been a good mix with our performance.

Wish the V/Line would replace our coach.

This is ridiculous.

You actually believe any Melbourne supporters will be going to this game?

I live within a few km's of the ground and have access to free tickets but you couldn't pay me to go to this game.
Been to the Cattery once. To go see Ablett Snr play. We only just lost too back in the mid 90s, but the abuse our little pocket of supporters copped was relentless. Terrible ground too. Swore I'd never go back and didn't.

What V/Line don't seem to realise is that Geelong usually reserve the Melbourne game for special milestone celebrations.
Round 4 is no exception when Geelong celebrate 100 years of Ford sponsorship.
