In Round 22 of each year, Geelong have been fixtured against..

08' West Coast at KP (they also drew Freo at KP)
09' Fremantle at KP
10' West Coast at KP

Effectively a Round 22 bye each year.

In the same stretch, Collingwood have only hosted WC (of these 2 clubs) at Ethiad once.

It amuses me that Geelong supporters complain about Collingwood's draw.

FWIW the draw needs to be viewed from when it was made.

Eg. Geelong getting WestCoast in round 22 '08. WestCoast finished 3rd at the conclusion of the home and away season in '07 and made it to the Semi Finals. Yes, they had a shocking year in '08 and finished 15th, but when the draw was done, they were a decent team.

Freo in 09 - granted. Finished 15th year before

WC in '10 - finished 11th last year. Far from the worst side when the draw was done.

The whole premise of the OP is that we get a "bye" in R22.... but what the angry panther has forgotten is that 80% of our games over the past 4 years have been "byes" regardless of where they were played.

Geelong's record against the Top 4 this has been 2 & 2. 4 games against the Top 4 for the entire year.

You are merely where you are b/c of an easy draw.

In 1997, Geelong finished ahead of ADL. Geelong lost the 1st Final, they had to travel to ADL in the 2nd week.
In 1996, WC won it's first final, Essendon lost it's first final. WC had to host a final at the MCG.

These occurances occured b/c the MCC held a contract with the AFL regarding game requirements at the MCG.

The AFL wanted to get out of this contract b/c minnow clubs such as Geelong complained about this inequity. The MCC's response was to grant the CFC 14 games at the MCG to break this contract.

If it wasn't for the CFC, you would have a situation such as the WC/Ess final.

Wrong, it was due to the McIntyre system.

The MCC held a contract with the AFL to host a final every week of September. In 1998, it was broken when Collingwood signed it's deal with the MCC.

I suggest you get a clue. Be thankful that yours & mine fees just paid for the MCC go to the CFC & not the GFC.

Also it wasn't done in 1998 but it was done rather in 2004 when AFL Headquarters realised it was unfair to interstate teams due to their recent dominance and renegotiated the deal with the MCC accordingly. Case in point qwas BVrisbane vs Geelong 2004 AFL Preliminary fInal.

You think the MCC contract is why Geelong went to AAMI Stadium in the semi in 1997?

Collingwood supporters wont be happy until they leave the 'g zero times a year and only play the worst teams? Is that what is going on here?

Maybe just give the points to cwood and disqualify the other team. Or make every team cwood. If its cwood vs cwood you can never lose!! It'll save the umpires the effort of winning the game for you too, like we see so often.
