Umpiring is part of the game - but there are several posters that are flat out obsessed with it and can hardly even describe who played well during the game cos they're so focused on umpiring decisions.

And when I point it out to people, instead of going "oh yeah, maybe I should focus on the people playing the game instead of the umpires" they find a way to double down and justify the obsession.

I find it odd.

It shits me that Essendon are in line for their 3rd or 4th "traditional" blockbuster slot with this Kings Birthday eve thing as we hang onto our one Easter Monday clash.

I hope we can get a little more proactive and claim another one at least. The one that is just sitting there at the moment is Mother's Day. A decently timed MCG clash on that Sunday afternoon will be snapped up by some clubs guaranteed.

I’d say 85% - 90% of members are rank and file people thinking that being a member is akin to being part of the society set. Legit beggars belief. It’s not the Atheneum Club (that sucks arse too).

Was that during the 6 year period where we played Essendon as the home team once?

We pulled more of a crowd early this year on a 3:20 Sunday game than Carlton did v Essendon at the g on a Friday night. Also pulled more than Essendon did in round 23 v Richmond. We never hit much more than 70 v them but it’s not like the crowds have been small.

Against GWS from memory. Ditto Collingwood. I don’t see why something with 2 Melbourne clubs, marketed well and combined with something dedicated to women couldn’t work. Not everyone is home pampering mothers and I’m sure we have plenty of mum supporters who’d be up for a lunch followed by us playing a big game at a decent timelot.

Reckon that game may have been Dylan Moore's first game, if not, one of his very first.
