I believe another record coming up for Geelong this week.

If they were to lose this week, they will have recorded the worst Premiership defence in history by finishing 12th the following year.
Richmond also finished 12th in 2021.

AFL thrown up some weird shit this year.

  • MRO Chooklotto - now with even more chooklotto!
  • Boundary Lines - Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?
  • Protected area - except when it's not
  • Goal review - who even cares anymore? Near enough!
  • So it's a 23 game H&A season now?
  • The head writer using the league's official website to run a clear personal vendetta campaign

Money does some funny things. Careful What you Wish for.

Related to 2nd last point above, as I checked the ladder this morning. Haven't paid any attention to it this year for obvious reasons.
So a little surprised to see GWS make the finals. They were as bad as anyone last year. Good call on the coaching change.

That's when I got confused because I remembered we're playing Freo this weekend and the H&A season is not actually over despite everyone already having played 22 games.

So GWS haven't made the finals yet. They need Dogs to not win against Geelong or they need to beat Carlton (yeah, %. Simplifying).

We totally expect Geelong to turn it up Saturday and take the piss, yeah?

Are Carlton any chance of flaking out and getting rolled? Very late Sunday game, eish.

Looking at the top 8, pretty much every team to me looks capable of losing to anyone on the right day. Could be anyone's cup if they get it right at the right time?

Melbourne probably the objective strongest outfit(?) but I don't trust their application.

Kenny's cup, to cause the paer BF board to implode?
Saints run the table from no man's land?
Crazzy Vossy? Surely not.

We'll find out I guess.

Probably the only likeable Dons player. Been through a lot and was a very exciting player in his prime.
I did like him until he lied to my face about returning. Said he was happy in retirement, then like 2 days later announced his return! My Essendon mate is still salty about that too.

Clarko cracking the sads at the concessions Gold Coast get will no doubt ensure pick 2 and probably access to their wanted academy kid

"The league put in place some some things several years ago for the Gold Coast Suns to actually equalise and give them a better opportunity, including getting Darwin as a zone and included academy access to their players.

"It's just accepted that Gold Coast have got three picks in the top-10 this year and it's like 'oh well, that's OK

Clarkson said the Kangaroos would ideally like to hang on to McKay.

"If we don't feel like we get the compensation necessary for him then we'll be fighting for him to stay, we want him to stay," he said.

"Let me know if there's a six-foot five, six-foot six fullback, centre-half-back that's in the draft to replace him, and there ain't.

Clarko saving face re:McKay is kind of funny
The messaging from the club for months has been how they don't care (a bit like the kid in school who never cares when they don't get picked but then goes off crying to the teacher)
He's saying McKay is needed to try and twist the arm of the league. Reality is they haven't offered him a contract

Which is why they shouldn't get anything/

Offer him a deal then? Pretty simple

National Draft changes:

All priority picks and free agency compensatory picks only come after the 1st round. No exceptions!

We have 18 picks only in the 1st round (Night 1). No exceptions!

Academy and father sons must be taken in club draft order in the 1st round. For instance Walter would be pick 4* regardless if a bid comes earlier (Obviously clubs can still exchange 1st round picks and trade a 1st round pick for a player/s).

* If the Suns and Hawks exchanged 1st rounders Walter would be pick 3.

* If the Suns didn’t have a 1st rounder this year Walter would be selected with their next pick (22*).

* Following an earlier Walter bid if Read was then selected by another club at pick 7 and Rogers at pick 9 their bids are not matched in the 1st round unless the Suns have gained an additional 1st rounder. 18 picks in the 1st round - no exceptions!

* If the Swans selected McCabe at pick 13* and the Hawks matched the bid the Swans would still have the next pick and the Hawks would select McCabe with their next pick.

Matching bids would remain the same in terms of the current points system in place, the only difference being the matching club has to wait to their next pick before officially picking that player.

Thoughts? Fire away!

Let all father sons be from the second round, luck of the draw and good development it should favour one of the great parts of our game

How many father sons and nga kids do kangaroo’s have on their list??

Plus they were given a second snd third rounder last year to ontrade.., and they cleaned out their list in 2020 to accelerate the bottoming out.

I don’t think kangaroos deserve any more help… clarko is playing the squeaky wheel- hoping for some oil.
