Brisbane were really impressive tonight outside the first quarter. And that is with Cameron and Rayner doing next to nothing.

I’m worried pies don’t have the scoring firepower to trouble Brisbane.

MCG is the only concern. Brisbane are the in form team of finals.
Finals form is everything.... And they've only lost 2 games since round 14. However Nick Daicos being back from injury will make a huge difference. His classiness was on full show in that last minute.

The great thing about the pies is it seems to follow the club around more so than any particular team.

Since 1960 they’ve played in 16 grand finals for 2 wins, 2 draws and 12 losses.

It’s a bit like * and not winning finals. Replacing the whole team doesn’t change the fact they will still find a way to not win.
Since 1960 they haven't won a GF in September

Daniel McStay out is huge, was giving Sam Taylor headaches all night.

Will make Brisbane's rebound game so much stronger with that omission.

I used to be a huge Daniel Rich, but Coleman is so much better. Reminds of a Andrew McLeod off half back the way he moves and uses the ball.

I'd just like to take the time to wish the Brisbane Lions a big congratulations on winning against Carlton. They've done society a favour. That performance by Keidean Coleman tonight was exceptional. 10/10 performance for a halfback in my books. It's hard to believe he was overlooked in his original draft year. He has shown glimpses of brilliance throughout his career thus far, but he put it all together tonight to see his side through to a grand final. He sort of reminds me of Andrew McLeod. Finals can be where the best of the best rise to the top and young stars make names for themselves. I think Keidean Coleman has just made a name for himself tonight. I'd love to see him playing alongside the likes of Weddle, Jiath, and Scrimshaw, even though that will never happen.

Have to give Fagan a lot of credit, when he moved to the Lions they were an absolute basket case and he turned them around into a consistent top 4 team pretty quickly.

Can also track the Hawks decline from the moment he left and Clarko went into full crazy Clarko mode.

I do like their style of footy as well, reminds me a little of our 3 peat teams in the way they move the ball and prioritise skilled players up forward.

Not really a fan of either team next week tbh, Brisbane kept stopping our players from retiring here so screw em. Yeah they probably would've just retired elsewhere, but it's like if someone started wearing the same clothes you do everyday, less flattering, more annoying.

A few blues players ill need to do some soul searching over the offseason. Cripps in particular put in three straight poor performances in finals.

Meanwhile, after shaking off the rust, lions showed they were a class above carlton. Had they kicked better for goal they win that by twice as much. I expect them to be better next week and take home the flag.

Not making for Cripps but was carrying a rib injury at the least.... not dissimilar to Hodge in 2012 with his knee if I recall correctly. Top tier players not at their best can usually be attributed to an injury of some sort that we are unaware of......just saying

You could be right. I just wonder if the pace and intensity of finals footy dont suit him. He couldn’t get near it once the lions upped their intensity. I guess we wait until next season to find out.

He was unreal, played a perfect game. The biggest thing that stands out now are elite kicks, we need more of them.

So we are told twilight or night finals including grand finals are good for ratings?

Viewers also criticised Channel 7 for cutting its post-game coverage short to switch to other programming. Seven’s broadcast of the game was switched to 7mate in southern states, with the nightly news bulletin running from 8pm AEST because of the match.

They're great for unique viewership (less people at pubs, bbqs etc)
They're terrible for the actual broadcast

Blues were battered and bruised from two tough matches against Sydney and Melbourne. After quarter time, they were just going through the motions. They did very well to get to the prelim. I think that first quarter was a bit of a tell about the Lions and not sure that they can manage Collingwood's high pressure football in the GF. Although they look very good with ball in hand, they also still make too many errors in transition and a few of their better players tend to go missing in big games. Those are big problems to overcome so I expect Collingwood will win.

And you could be right too, we'd have to see him over a larger sample size I guess...... would be interesting to see his total time spent in the middle. He did appear to lack his usual power to me though

Players normally find the 2nd week up after a break a lot tougher .
He is a class player but he may find next week tough work

One thing I thought of watching his game, agree it was a blinder. Is that we have some cracker HBF'ers on our list like you mentioned, can i add Mitchell to that. Exciting times ahead.
