That can't possibly be a suspension

What is he supposed to do? Grow wings and fly over Viney? Teleport out of the way? Cease to exist mid-air?
Not jump in the direction of a player I guess. It’s clearly accidental but if players are now getting done for ordinary tackling, not sure a guy who jumps into someone and knocks them out can get off

He should not be suspended but that’s no longer relevant. Players are getting suspended for tackles if a player is concussed as the outcome is all that matters. Why is jumping for a smother any different?

Can’t believe the sentiment in here is that Maynard should get off. Don’t listen to the commentators going into bat for their mates.

Left the ground, hit him high and knocked him out. It’s 3 weeks minimum.
He should get off. We are over obsessed by concussion and are ignoring accidents in football.

They’ve changed their tune at the back end of the season. Been a few football incidents that the outcome has been ignored. Swans have been a master at it.

he jumped to smother the ball, not to bump him though. I thought he did everything right and felt Brayshaw unfortunately leaned into him rather than the opposite direction. Hated seeing it, and have no love for Maynard, but thought it was all okay. Who knows though, as tackles that accidently result in concussions are obviously getting hammered.

To anyone saying it’s not a suspension cause ‘what else could he do’…

Hello? Sicily?

Sicily could have not played football and not tackled - but an unfortunate accident for a normal football act (but KO’d someone) = 3 weeks

If consistent - Maynard didn’t need to jump or turn side on - then he should be getting multiple weeks, and therefore he shouldn’t be seen for the rest of the season.

Not saying it’s right or wrong - it’s just being consistent.
