Obvious West Coast dont care about womens football

If they did they would have learnt from the failures of Port Adelaide.

Or are they hoping they can get generational players handed to them on a silver platter like Port did?

Not sure what to make of that. Seems like a great person but has very little experience
Lots of male players go on to become coaches... it seems like a logical pathway for the women too. She's been in the system A LONG time... and I think her analysis is not bad. Does she have the people skills to pull it off? Guess we are about to find out.

Lucky she has a mentor as rookie coach. She has done about the same apprenticeship as Nathan Buckley with more media.

And it may well go the same as Bucks did too but perhaps not as much pressure on the women's comp as in the men?... (I think Bucks has a brilliant footy mind, I'd like to see him get another go).

Don’t see anyone doing it without a pretty solid apprenticeship these days though. Women’s game much less professional at this point, so her skipping coaching development might work out ok.

Bit of scandal developing in Sydney with two AFLW players caught with illicit drugs

Has to happen eventually, but I was hoping we'd get to take advantage of the strong SA talent for a bit longer.
It’s going to be a pain over the next few years but like I’ve pointed out before this current SA junior women’s boom we’re experiencing is more a short-term perfect storm and was due to a combination of things including the SANFL being able to run more targeted programs over a smaller area than other states & the performance from the Crows AFLW team which made Women’s football a lot more visible than say in WA, it will correct its self out in the next few years and like with the AFL draft nearly all of the top 25-30 prospects in the country will be from Victoria as population size, quality in talent ID and more well funded & higher quality junior pathways eventually take over.

What is the Nikki Nield story still in SANFLW. Is she ex Freo?
Did the name change get you? Nikki Nield née Gore former Crow and yes former Docker now after she got delisted by Freo at the end of last season.

Interesting how things pan out, Crows did definitely not want to lose her in 2022 and it looked like she was going to be a permanent fixture in that running defender role but she decided to move because she got offered that higher tier payment option from Freo and spun some stuff about wanting to be a midfielder instead and how because she’s a surfer and adventurer she wanted to go to WA. Started out in the team in her first year but couldn’t get a game their last season even when they had injuries.

So came back to SA and she really started the SANFLW season on fire, her and Boileau were dominating that midfield for South and she certainly improved her ball winning ability since she left the Crows, it helps that her really high level of fitness really shows up others at SANFLW level. Still has those disposal issues which I imagine ultimately held her back at AFLW level.

I didn't realise Freo had delisted her. She was a permanent fixture in our side that has been regularly pushing deep in finals, so hard to imagine she couldn't make their side unless she went drastically backwards.

I wonder if we'll look to take her again? Unless Port take her first?
Had another best on ground stat sheet stuffed performance for South Adelaide today, so I suppose you never know. Her toughness and tackling have always been a standout but her ability to get to contest to contest with her superior fitness means she’s able to excel at SANFLW level. Her issues on-field have always just been she’s an unreliable kick and also has a bit of the Hannah Munyard’s about her when it comes to decision making when stepping up to the higher level as it was always very rushed and a bit iffy.

Also I would question where the football commitment levels are at especially after her failed time at Freo, no doubt she has a lot of close people at West Lakes that would want her back.
