I tried doing 5am for gym sessions before the kids woke up, i managed it for a long time but i never enjoyed it.

Ive moved to either early morning if im up already or after theyve all gone to bed.
I would say it took me a solid 6months to a year, to actually get into a position to enjoy training that early.

Even in 2025, if I have a bad nights sleep, its still a lot easier to get in at 5.30am then at the end of the day.

I'm annoyed I didn't go early this morning. Wide awake at 3.30am.. thought it's ok I'll go in the arvo. Afternoon comes around, can barely keep my eyes open and have a splitting headache. At least I still got a 5km walk in, outside, before that.
I feel for you. Suffering from headaches/migraines is a horrible experience.:'(

I always get my exercise all completed in the early morning, as I know come the arvo, Im cooked.

I have no idea how during Covid 2020, I managed to do weights early morning and evening late night beach runs. Then again that was a very weird and strange time in all our lives. It definitely was not discipline but motivation.

It's probably due to my lack of sleep the past few days, my usual 5.30am wake up, has been replaced by 4.30am, then today's 3.30. Am srsly over it. I'm on school holidays as well, I'm not stressed about anything. Ffs I want TO SLEEP.

Would you consider taking sleep medication if it continues? It can help you get back to a routine again.

As someone who does suffer occasionally from poor sleep, I try and be meticulous with my "sleep hygiene".

I did that once, had idk something prescribed by my doctor. I woke up with the most incredible headache of my entire life, i wanted to literally swallow an entire box of Panadol (I took 3).. barely took the edge off. So yeah I'm a little reluctant to do that.

There are generally two types of sleep meds that are prescribed, Zolpidem (Stillnox) or Zopliclone (Imovane).

I cant recall which one of these, but I know one of them can and does give horrible headaches.

Imovane would suit you best as it gives you a longer sleep.

Alternatively you can get Restavit without a prescription from a chemist. The pharmacist will sometimes give you an "interrogation" to ask why you want it and how often you take it. However if you say your GP recommended you get it, they almost always will give it you. It wont give you a headache and it works.

Sweet I'll look into that, thanks
