Mike Sheahan is clueless

Anyone see him On The Couch tonight? They were discussing Scully with guest Alistair Lynch, who happens to be Scullys manager.

Anyway, this part was my favorite.

Mike: "I think he has made a commitment with GWS"

Gerard: "You just said Melbourne are negotiating a new deal with him!!!"

Mike: "Oh yeah, I did too."

Nice one, MIke.:eek::eek: You , like every other person in the media, know nothing about Tom Scullys situation.

So just pipe down you senile old twat.

Lazy journalism when talking about Hawthorns "Kids"

Keven Bartlett was doing it repeatedly this morning and others just seem to quote each other without doing any actual research themselves. I've heard similar from Mark Robinson and Crag Hutchinson. It's just lazy and incompetent journalism. Talking about the Hawthorn "Kids" and then quoting the names Sheils, Savage, Whitecross and Suckling. All of these players debuted in 2009 so they are hardly "new" or "kids". Australias football media are a joke and should be ashamed of themselves. These so called journalists should be informing me about my and other teams not bullshitting their way through their jobs.

Re: Channel 7 camera work

May sound a tad pedantic here, but I caught sevens game this afternoon, and it reminded me why I dont usually tune into their coverage (apart from the fact that friday night football is 3 hours delayed)

There was some awfull camera work going on today. They need to take a leaf out of channel 10's book with regard to camera work. The only time that a shot from behind the player should be used is when they are shooting at goal, or taking a kick out.

It looks like Channel 7 try to be too fancy with some of the angles. They try cameras in the roof and such, which really dosnt work. Channel 10 keep it simple, along with fox and this is how it should be. Show off your fancy camera angles for replays not during play.

With Channel 10 not getting the rights next year, I hope that some of the camera crews get a job at 7, as they have the commentators but not the broadcast quality

Oh and its not in HD:(
They stay zoomed in for too long rather than cutting to the establishing shot so you can see where the player with the ball is going to kick too.

Freo's game against melb at the mcg was made worse by the inept camera changes, with pointless replays taking precedence over live play. Shat me to tears.

Danny Frawley = Dr Doom

Dont mind him as a media commentator but has he got a positive bone in his body?

Always potting players & teams plus coined the new phrase 'coach killers' which is catching on quick!

But we must give him a big tick for starting the headwobblers segment on the MMM rub for keeping all those tossers in the media who think they are bigger than the game themselves in check!

That was a Fox game. Fox are even worse than Seven when it comes to camera work. The only thing Fox's coverage has going for them is it is live and ad free (And Jako!:thumbsu:). Otherwise they are by far the worst telecast to watch.

Representatives of clubs should not be media hosts

I'm talking about people like James Brayshaw, Jason Dunstall, Eddie McGuire, Malcolm Blight et al who work for football clubs and speak on behalf of said clubs whenever they come up in a discussion. Their opinions are not drawn from insight into the club's happenings, they are veiled, carefully considered club positions.

That should be the role of guests, not hosts. I have absolutely no desire to tune in and watch a discussion about footy between two hosts turn into an uninspiring interview consisting of limp softball trading.

I expect it on the Footy Show which is one of many reasons why I don't watch it, but the Chief is terrible to watch on Foxtel when they discuss Hawthorn; always says "we" and acts as a club spokesman and the result is actually that there is barely any probing into Hawthorn's affairs because they have someone to lead them off track and who they don't want to defend. Club speak is boring enough when it comes from a guest panellist.

You can add Tim Watson to that list - he is probably the worst because he pretends he has no involvement, at least the others disclose theirs.

Media hosts should be impartial and discuss all clubs in the same manner. I'm not saying they shouldn't support a team, of course they should, but a person like Mike Sheahan's allegiances are as unimposing as they are mysterious to many, and then you have someone like Gerard Whateley whose allegiances are well known and worn on their sleeves, yet at the same time Gerard will never speak or defend on behalf of the Cats - he will only express his opinion as it comes.

Anyone else hate this as much as I do?

Bruce McAvaney on Graham Johncock

Did I just hear correctly.

Graham Johncock was off with a sore hip.

Bruce: "He's living up to his nickname... of course they call him "Stiffy" because of the way he runs"

Was Bruce trolling or genuinely missing the point?

I reckon he was trying to cover himself for using the nickname Stiffy earlier in the telecast and then thinking "Maybe it is inappropriate?"

Either way, I did LOL when I heard that from Bruce.:p

McClure was guilty of this on a number of occasions on ABC Saturday.

Re: Representatives of clubs should not be media hosts

Nothing worse then waiting for a delayed match to start on TV for the news presenter to give you the scores.

Thank you Caty Price you idiot.

Re: Representatives of clubs should not be media hosts

She wanted to give the scores, and maybe she didn't realise what was going to be shown straight after the news maybe.

Whatever her reason, it was unacceptable and it cost Ten a viewer.

You are just being picky. You are talking about people who do have roles like being on the board at a club.
If we have it your way there would only be journos working as hosts. Some of us like the JBs,eddies, dunstalls, blights because they CAN and DO offer insights into the club.

Short point: being involved at a club shouldn't exclude people from hosting or working in the media.

The end of FTA Matches and we all can't wait

I for one can't wait until Foxtel broadcast all matches next year live and I will never have to watch Seven and Ten again.

No more delays- whats the point in Ten delaying Western Bulldogs vs West Coast today by an hour and instead put on the Doctors.

Shit broadcaster and same with Seven, can both go and kiss my ass next year because I will never watch another game FTA match again and think most will aswell.

Re: How does Alastair Lynch get a media gig?

Agree 100% Drummond.

He ruins the Tuesday night show on Fox, was terrible On The Couch and to say that his commentary is stifled is an insult to people who struggle to construct a coherent sentence.

Pickering can at least claim to be duotone unlike Lynch whose monotone banal delivery drives me nuts.
