Cash grab and gets to play where he played junior football. The Roosters makes far less sense than the Dolphins do.

Hey least he'll get Septembers off. Dolphins overachieved with a good coach, this new one looks terrible. More clubs will offer DCE a one last chance to win.

Not sure Bennett is what he’s cracked up to be anymore to be honest. Jury is still out at the moment. Souths have beaten - just - a dolphins team missing a third of its side, and scraped home against the dragons, who are shite.

They were never in the hunt against the sharks.

He's got a depleted Souths side competing every week, that's all you ask in these circumstances, add Mitchell in (1-2 weeks), obviously the loss of Murray is massive there, he's a star of the game he's out for a while. Bennett probably isn't what he was a decade or whatever ago, but only last year he got a depleted Dolphins side competing for the 8, they missed out but were close. Dragons aren't a terrible side at home at least, that's a solid away win, Dragons will compete at home all season, it's away they will suck.

I know they certainly aren’t like for like but they have had Graham back into the back 5 this year who makes a huge difference so that mitigates those circumstances a little bit. I’m supposed to hate them anyway but in the most two eyed way possible I’m keeping my powder dry on souths and Bennett for now.

I'm not saying they will make the top 4 and even with a no injury list I didn't have them that high up, however they were that bad last year having a side competing every week as a supporter you are surely happy with, that was half the issue last year among other things there was a sense of who cares about their performances. Bennett may not be what he was but he won't cop players putting in half an effort, and that's the minimum in today's game. Whoever you go for if you see the players trying their best out there win or lose you are okay with the result.

Woolf was highly sought after, don't think it's worth writing him off after 2 games.

That squad isn't much chop but throw Daly in the mix and all of a sudden it looks a lot better.

If he was after both money and success he’d probably be best off at Manly !
It would appear to me that it’s more an emotional tie, so that points to Redcliffe imo

If he has any feel for romanticism/sentiment, then he'd head to the Dolphins. It just makes too much sense for him to end his career where it all began as a five year old at the club where his father played. I think the Dolphins have offered him huge money and DCE has been listening since November when Manly only offered one year.

Just catching up with more news while on holidays in Bangkok , it seems that the Titans and DCEs relationship with Hasler has surfaced as a suitor as well ?

Suuuuuurely the Titans don't go back to that well...

Geez. Would be a brave move to chase a guy that famously reneged on you in the past. That's not to say Des won't try his luck, but I'd imagine they would keep that information to themselves (which Des appeared to do today). I've just got this feeling that it's going to be the Dolphins that land DCE. Fairytale finishes are rare in pro sports and DCE legitimately has the chance to have the fairytale finish with his junior club Redcliffe and possibly lead them to their first ever finals series/premiership. That's a special opportunity that virtually no player is offered at any point in their career, let alone the last few years of his playing days.

Hmmm not good choices for grounds, also why is it England and not UK? Wasn’t that what it used to be?

Headingley is a dump, and should never host internationals. There's never a thought to give a match to one of SL's big hitters, like Wigan or Saints. I think the change for GB to England was something to do with, they had to do it to get funding from Sport England. Or something.

"Great Britain" in the 2000s. Stopped trying to get interest in Scotland & Wales maybe (neither has a professional club).

Wales’ leading club (Crusaders) plays in league one and is made up almost entirely of Englishmen anyway. The only players of note are Lloyd Roby, Olly Davies who’s played a reasonable amount of SL, a 37 year old Patrick Ah Van (ex Warriors) and their lone Welshman of note is Ben Evans who had a few stints with SL clubs.

There’s no professional clubs in 🏴

Everton stadium will be awesome! It should sell out.

Game 3 is a bit puzzling but I'm guessing they are thinking Australia will be 2-0 up and it might struggle... I was reading the oragniser saying they want this game to sell out within a few weeks of being on sale (Capacity is 20000 I think) and people who miss out might think about going and making a day of it at London or Liverpool (Everton Stadium).

That seems an odd logic. I hope the Everton stadium is ready; I don't think it's been used yet! Everton football club are still playing at their old stadium, and as far as I understand, will continue to do so throughout this season. I'll probably go to all three. Liverpool is only up the road, after all, although I don't go there often.

I'm watching the Roosters game right now, and one thing often strikes me; is it just me, or are the playing surfaces at some NRL stadia not at all good? Yes, I know this is what Aussies call winter :D , but that Allianz surface is rubbish. And Suncorp is even worse, for what's suppose to be a showcase rugby league stadium. I can't believe there isn't considerable scope for improvement there.

And I still hate this 'no jeopardy' rule on short-restarts. The rule was just fine how it was, and struck the right balance. Fortunately, it's one area where, so far, SL haven't copied the NRL. And of course that whole situation is rubbish anyway. How would it be if cricket was played to different rules in England and Australia (yeah, I know it used to be, but a long time ago, and all other sports have put that to bed)?
