"Under estimate the Bulldogs at your own peril"

Thinks if the Dogs improve their kicking into the forward 50, watch out. Also thinks this is easily correctable.

I always thought Gerard Healy was a tool, this statement just proves it. I think St Kilda, Geelong and Collingwood should feel pretty comfortable in underestamating the Dogs with the way we have played this year.

I think the major problem is everyone (including myself) has overestimated their ability at the start of the season.

I think they got above themselves after the NAB cup, to which appears to have done them more harm than good, so far....

Irrelevant, only indicator that is relevant in W-L and that is 8-6

Can't win the flag from 5th to 8th

Season 2010 = fail.

You folk may have given up but i haven't. We all agree that we should have won friday had we kicked better into the forward 50. Thats all it is. Let that click for a couple of weeks and bang we will be singing. It looked doom and Gloom at the end of last yr too but we won 3 quality games to head into the finals after losing to the eagles at home in round 18.

SHOULD HAVE WON AGAINST COLLINGWOOD - lost by 10
SOULD OF WON AGAINT HAWTHORN - Lost By 3

IF WE HAD WON THESE GAMES WE WOULD BE A GAME CLEAR ON TOP OF THE LADDER

No, we're not.

We are as far away as we have ever been. We cannot, for some reason, win the games that matter. We have never been able to do this in my lifetime....

Win the contests, then execute under pressure. We match any team in the comp for the former, and we have been poor in the latter. Most of the team could improve in this area, but to match it with the top teams we specifically need the players whose primary job description is disposal to lift their game - griffen, higgins, harbrow, johnson, hargrave, gilbee, murphy, cooney, grant. These guys will be the difference between pretenders and contenders.

Explain to me why you cant win the flag from 5th to 8th? Do 5th to 8th not have a spot in the finals? Yes, they do. That means you CAN win the flag from there. No doubt it is a lot harder, but it can be done.
The players have the skills to be able to do so, but for some reason they just havent shown it this year. Im still confident we can go deep into September. There is still 8 rounds of the season left, so why dont you just wait until they are over to see where the season is going? Hawthorn lost 6 or 7 in a row, and turned it around and won 7 in a row. That just shows you that it can be done. Anything can happen in football.

How is this a game that doesn't matter? Lose and we will drop even further.

2 simple reasons...

1) I think our chances this year are already gone....

2) We don't need to prove we can beat Carlton. We need to show we can beat Geelong, Collingwood, Saints etc.... No offense to Carlton, who are improving, but look at our recent record against the top 4 sides.

We win the games that dont matter, but lost the ones that do...

We should have won these games where we only showed up when it was all done and dusted?

We deserved to lost both of those games by at least 7-8 goals. Disgraceful performances for three quarters and then some decent junk time footy to make it look closer than it actually was.

I like Gerard Healy but he is talking out of his arse here. Geelong, St Kilda and co will not be shaking in their boots about us, and rightly so.

We need to basically win every game for the rest of the year to make the top 4 and that isn't going to happen.

We will make the finals and be out either week 1 or week 2. Yay

I'm sorry - but what?

How do we not need to prove we can beat Carlton when we have lost to Brisbane, Essendon and Hawthorn?

Carlton are better than at least two of those sides.

That's not even taking into account our own pathetic recent performances against Carlton.

We have won one game this year against a semi decent team in Sydney. Every other big test we've either failed miserably, Collingwood twice or choked spectacularly - Hawthorn, Saints.

I'm certainly curious as to why Healy and others still rate us as a threat to the likes of Geelong when we have no credibility against even the mid range teams in the top 8 this year.

Look, I realise that Carlton most certainly have had the wood on us in recent years. But even if we were to win this game comfortably, what will that prove ??

Carlton aren't a top 4, proven premiership side or threat. They're currently in the midst of a long term rebuild of the side with a view to becoming a threat in a few years.

Excluding the 4 points, this isn't a match against a top side that we may come up against towards the tail end of the finals. You've said it yourself, every game against a big side, we've lost. Carlton aren't a big side (on the field) at this stage. This isn't a big game. Important for where we finish, maybe, but big - no....

I still may not have explained this well...

we do not know how to beat the blues

Bulldogs 1.6 6.9 10.10 13.12
Carlton 4.1 11.3 15.7 21.7 133 by 43 2009

Carlton 2.4 5.8 12.13 18.18 126 Carlton won by 28 pts [Match stats]

7.2 10.5 18.8 21.12 138 Sun 03-Jun-2007 2:10 PM Att:37,535 Venue: M.C.G.
Western Bulldogs 7.4 12.8 14.13 19.14 128 Carlton won by 10 pts [Match stats]

In 2 of these game we were leading clearly in the third quarter. I think the blues speed will worry us and this is a toss of the coin game.

In fact the only remaining game I confident about is the Port. Athough if we pulled our finger out we could win them all except the cats and be 15 wins which make us 5th unless Freo dropped 3 games which is unlikely.

We don't go on long winning streaks, think we seem to get to about 5 relax a little and then lose. Perhaps that is why we have never dominated the competition, good teams can string wins together.

Total rubbish...it's been done before and will be again. Only place you can't win it from is 9th to 16th!
