We won't though. If they sense danger, then a Hawthorn, Geelong or Western Bulldogs will trade for him before he gets anywhere near the PSD.

His good is very good and his bad is atrocious. I'm sure we've all had enough of that shit.

If we were to get him, there is no way he would help Salter. We would play Tredrea, Hall, Ebert and Motlop plus Gray or some other small but not Salter.
Once Tredrea retires it would be Westhoff, Hall etc, but again no Salter.

I'd love to have him, but with his current attitude and our current coach, or Wallace for that matter as Choco and Wallace are birds of a feather when it comes to tactics, no thanks.

So you are saying that he wont do a Nick Stevens, Josh Carr, Mal Michael etc and just walk out for nothing but will request that any club interested in him has to give the swans compensation?? I hadn't thought of it that way as I thought he would be a free player. If he is a free player then we would be stupid not to pursue him!

If we have to give something to the swans then I can see the risk argument that Macca mentioned and others have alluded to. It then in my opinion is weighing up what he is worth. If we have to give up pick 60+ then there is no real doubt in my mind about going after him. To give up a pick between 25 and 60 then does require a more detailed evaluation.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to stick this, but it's on topic re KFP's. Anybody watch the Essendon v Hawks game at the G yesterday? Great game and it reminded of the Essendon v Hawks games circa 1983 to 87. In the end it reminded me most of the 1984 GF with Essendon coming from behind and peppering the goals with lots of goals and points in the last quarter.

I couldn't help but go hmm a few times when Michael Hurley got the ball in the second half. The bloke is a backman occasional forward who played forward and kicked 4 goals in a pressure packed game in front of a big crowd. That 55m goal on his left foot in the last quarter was brilliant. We seriously looked at him with our first pick. Now I think Hartlett is going to be a great player. He impressed me from the first thing he did in the NAB cup game at Canberra against Sydney that I attended. But I look at what Hurley did yesterday and wonder if in the long run not getting a big bodied Hurley who has a bit of toughness, plenty of confidence and a lot of size about him and can go for and kick goals is going to bite us in the bum.

Hopefully we have lucked out with Trengove as a champion KPP and a midfield champion in Hartlett is a better balance than 2 KBPs in Hurley and Trengove. But I have my doubts until I see what Trengove can do given his serious injury he picked up last year.

That is one of the major reasons why I am bullish on getting Hall for our short term needs. He has proven what he can do.

Drafting is not easy but Hurley was always going to be an above the normal type player.
Bigger is always better in my mind but we could have done worse and went for Yarren who after seeing play in the Wafl Grand Final was never worth pick 6
If Hartlett was playing for a good side like Saints or Geelong he would be in the Selwood class in time, playing for these bunch of Donkey's he might rot away on a HBF winning a couple of B@F awards

Big Bad Barry would be exactly the type we need both football and marketing wise but age will tell against him . His fitness and build tells me that he could play for a couple of seasons but will the "powers that be" agree ?
