Getting rid of the Gabba cricket pitch

Hear hear.

Take your half mill a year and quit your whinging.

So every player that does a knee or an ankle on that wretched cricket pitch is a whinger. Or maybe he's now allowed to speak his mind without repercussions.
Why is this ground the only one to have a rock hard center in the AFL?

I agree death to all ex brisbane lions players who voice the concerns of other players and the fans.

Real dog of an act opening his mouth to make a comment too. How dare he speak!!!!:p

So many tears on this, so little reason.

I don't have a problem with Brennan talking about the ground....Our players are not in a position to do so, but Jared is now...he knows the ground as well as our boys, so if he can get the message across that there seems to be a problem, well good on him..

Agree MM. This whole cricket pitch situation is a disgrace. The damage it has caused to the boys is evident, and now you have a former player verifying it. Unfortunately for us, we will continue to have injury issues whilst we play on it. Groins, knees, quads, you name it, our recent injury record proves it. I hope more players speak out.

blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blah

Hardly care what you think.

i didn't hear kaspa, bichle or billy mcdermott complain about the hard surface. the afl will have to buy the gabba, for it to happen and i can't see that happening any time soon

Anna might be looking for more assets to sell. ;)

the last time kevin mitchell junior used a drop in pitch at the gabba and the only time. queensland scored 960 in their only innings. so dropped in pitches aren't all they are cracked up to be

There's at least one plausible variable you're ignoring there.

Its only the Lions who have said they are not going to play games at the Gabba unless they have to and so pulled the pin on the reserves matches.

Yeah, but I thought that was as much about being able to water the ground as late as possible...?

This whole pitch thing will one day come to a head when some unfortunate AFL player sues the AFL, the Cricket Ground Trust etc and where Kevin Mitchell's words are cited in open court.

I appreciate the concern about maintaining the centre square, but I think it is ridiculous to roll and cut the square during winter. This is bordering on 2 fingers to you football oafs.

Agreed. Just shows a complete unwillingness for any sort of compromise or gesture of good will.

Screw you Mitchell.

There I said it.

My thoughts as well. Will take one career ending injury and it's on.
