Hi all as many of you may know I only recently moved back to the GC after many years away and would love some advice that I’m sure other Suns fans could use as well, I’m thinking such things as ( I’ll get it started)

restaurants, George’s at Sanctuary Cove

picnic spots, HOTA on a Sunday morning getting food at the markets and of course Burleigh head to watch the lights come on

take away, Rio Vista seafood has the best potato cakes / scallops in the world

Walks, Purlingbrook falls and Natural Bridge

let’s celebrate and support local business in our wonderful location and share what we love

Rio Vista has some pretty good deep fried mars bars. Another good take away is hidden in Helensvale - Kiwi Fish and Chips.

Agree Purlingbrook is a great walk as well. Probably the best on on the coast.

A few of my own -

Weekend accommodation - Mouses House at Springbrook (recommend the luxury Spa and Stream) good for a local weekend away.

Restaurant - Ginger Indian at Maudsland

I moved from Currumbin to Broadbeach about 18 months ago.
Used to love Currumbin Surf Club breakfast on a quiet weekday back in those days but on weekends I find dealing with parking and the busyness of the club spoils it.
Since I moved to Broadbeach we’ve been living a very frugal life as we are totally focussed on getting rid of the mortgage on this place.
Our Titans/Suns memberships are basically what our entire entertainment budget Spend is at the moment.
Nonetheless here are my favourite things up here these days when the planets align, Bloke At a Bar at Oasis, Haveli Indian Broadbeach and Chiangmai Thai Broadbeach.
Sports Bar at the Casino and A day at GC Turf Club are the other indulgences I long for.

I have a little pet supplies shop in Nerang - Uncle Toms Pet and Poultry Supplies (I can remove this if no self promotion)

If you want great little Japanese restaurant try Kumuri on Pappas Way in Carrara.

mate we are all about supporting locals 👍

Talking of Pappas way, Creative Pizza. If you haven't tried it, get onto it.

Also, mates rates for flashing a GC membership at the pet supplies store?

Creative recently changed their name to Merlin's Pizza, supposedly the same people running it. They did change the names of some of their pizzas though, had some the other night and were still good.

Haha, we have a loyalty thing we can sign you up too ;)

oh cool, I used to go there years ago when I had chickens.

sounds like you live up my way dont mind a bit of ginger Indian. Don't know too many other places up here dont get out much since my wife now has a strict diet Gluten Free, Dairy Free and soy free.

if your okay with hipsters Miami Marketta is unique night market/street food live music venue. or there is a small micro brewery around the corner called Lost Palms.

thai magik in chirn park, best thai food on the coast.

not a coffee guy, but no name lane in broady gets pretty good reviews from my coworkers.

the loose moose in broady does great american/canadian style food, cool industrial atmosphere too. fat freddys also offers some decent burgers & beers.

bonita bonita is my go-to for mexican, located in mermaid beach.

HOTA is a good shout for a picnic spot, paradise point on the northern end of the coast is nice also.

creative pizza in carrara is a great shout too, they never skimp on the toppings if that's what you're into!!

would also highly recommend a day trip up to mt tamborine. botanical gardens are really nice, lots of great cafes, and some nice lookouts on the western side to catch a great sunset.

purlingbrook falls is great, a bit further up the road is best of all lookout, which as the name suggests offers a pretty great view of the southern GC down towards byron.

Lucky Squire is now open.
Can you tell me a bit about what it is like please?
lucky squire is a james squire venue, they have a couple big venues up in brisbane. they predominantly serve their own craft beers, walked past it the other night and it looked as busy as a socially distancing compliant venue could. haven't tried it yet but me and some coworkers are booked in for a couple weeks time for lunch to check it out.

Merlins kicked off in Palm Beach around 30yrs ago when I lived there. They weren't too bad iirc. I see they have a few shops around the place now.

Opened last Tuesday, great beer selection ( as expected) and I highly recommend the chicken wings.

Keep the info coming peeps as I am keen to explore my GC

Mamasan which I think is right next door is pretty good too. Love their chicken wings.

I don't know a lot about the GC anymore as I haven't lived there since 2005, but I've just had a wonderful Thai Panang Curry, washed down with a few Benmore, lime and sodas. I reckon it's the best Panang Curry in Banchang (my wife made me post that) and now I'm off to relax and watch the 3rd replay of the Crows game, and see if we can improve our kicking for goal in that 1st qtr.
