Ex Tiger...I do not see any benefit in specifically highlighting who I am talking about..
It is very hard to keep players once they contemplate potentially greener pastures...and in my experience its hard to turn around players once they have made their minds up. There is a good argument that says that if players are unsure about the club, where they fit in or how it is run....well perhaps they are better off moving on anyway...because often the mid season quiet gripes and whinges can cause more damage than any obvious issue..
I understand that some former club leaders were pleaded with to stay over the years and even given senior leadership positions and extra money....only to move to rival clubs purely as players...playing at a club goes two ways...and loyalty can be a forgotten element.....speaking of which a little birdy told me that Ben Raidme assured the club he will play at Grovedale in 2011 should he be available....loyal to the bone and an outstanding character. That's what every club wants....players who want to be there..

Shad, who are the ones you are talking about then?????
My Comments were simply to highlight the type of person that the club should be fighting to keep.
For to long, peolpe that have spent many years with the footy club have packed up and moved on to other clubs without any fight coming to keep them - to name a few: Daniel Fletcher , Luke Rayner, Luke Primus, Drew Kelly, Brett Baldwinson, Tim Barton, Dean Holroyd, Darren Savickas, Richard Buckwell, Peter Wilkinson, Matt Bruhn just to name a few that left the grovey footy club after coming through the junoir system and went to play at other local clubs. (apologies to all the others that i have not mentioned)
I'm sure there are a couple in the above group that would be walk up starts to coach the club or that could be now running the admin side of the footy club.
Dont get me wrong, i do admire the current people for putting there hands up to give time to run the place, but there needs to be some sort of succession plan that keeps these sort of people with 15-30 years involved with the club (juniors /senior), no letting all their experience go to other local clubs...
