haha well time will tell finnigan he got a 100 pretty comfortably in the gv last year after missing a few games and you would agree the gv is on par with the gfl or am i wrong??? the team he played for finished 6th and joeys midfield would be better havin seen both teams and a bad day at the office for robbo still will bring in 4 or 5 goals!!! times that by 18 games and thats 75 to 85 and throw in a few big hauls and its 100?? in the end 85 to 100 is still a goo result and with other options for goals i stand by joeys making the grand final!!! brodie holland signing up will certainly add to the disposal to robbo i would think to! time for a change from sth barwon anyway yeh:thumbsu::rolleyes:

Yeah id agree leagues are on par, though Geeling grounds would be smaller overall so he won't have as much room.. I'll predict Robbo will kick 75-80 for the year. Tho if Joeys play Grovey twice this year then he could have close to 40 goals from just 2 games!!!

Brodie Holland to sign at Joeys?

Gee whiz the cheque book is out big time, who will handle all of the egos?

Could be completely wrong but i thought Brodie Holland was banned for life for passing the 16 weeks. Unless he got a reprieve?

Holland has been playing and coaching marbyinong in that leauge for past couple of years and winning flags!! reliable source tells me he will play 6 to 8 games at joeys as his just had twins and had another not so long ago and will help robbo out as there good mates!! 1000 a game 6 grand for the year why wouldnt ya? better than gettin a 300 buck player who turns out to be a dud or so so player and spend same amount:cool:

what do the rest of the team think about him rolling up 6-8 times a year and taking $1000 at a time? wouldn't it be better spent on developing the juniors into seniors or to help keep the depth players (fringe players with 20-40 games)at the club for many years, rather than a bloke who will not be seen or heard of after this year..

I tend to agree, probably just push a couple of young players out of a game for a few weeks.
I think Robertson is a big enough draw card without getting someone else who will command big cash to play.

Should be interesting to see how North Shore go this week against St Josephs. Coming off a great win, this will really tell us where they are at. If they can prove to be competitive this round, I think things are definately on the up at Windsor Park. Thoughts?

Feeling this - do you see the game against Newtown? can you give an update on Will Slade, Paul Licuria performances.

Yeah I saw it. Will Slade looked good before coming off with a corked thigh. Only got about a quarter of game time. Licuria is yet to play. Only expecting 5 - 6 games at this stage but the idea there is to teach the youngsters coming through some things.

As for Slade's injury, I'm not 100%, but I wouldn't expect a corky to keep him out of round 2.

I was most impressed by the debut of Tom Cairns. Can play. Anyone know any history on him? And of course Chooka Peoples starred again.

michael bright from newtown signed with bell park last night and will most likely play this week for the dragons.

It seems Newtown are in a world of trouble. Plenty of off-field issues is obviously affecting the playing group. Not to mention the 5+ 50m penalties they gave away on the weekend. Seems things aren't looking good at Elderslie Reserve.

Tom is from the Horsham & District League, played for Greater Western before this club folded this year. Went to North Shore with Bobby Garley who also played for Greater Western. I think he trains with Port Melb also. They were B&f and runners up from previous club the pair.

Garley played quite good aswell. Two very handy inclusions. I think the seagulls can look forward to a few wins this year.

richard buckwell, you have to be kidding, what a hack. rayner will go where the going is good. holroyd take the money and run, what an ego. wilkinson was the most over rated player in history, 2 good games a year. bruhn coached newcomb to a flag when the money was there. luke primus has a passion to coach, still a grovedale member, barton, kelly and baldwinson are good mates of his. go through any club and you will find a similar number of players have left. its a sign of the times, lack of loyalty and weak gutted rules from the vcfl. need to go back to the old days and give some physical attention to a traitor that plays against his mates

My Comments were simply to highlight the type of person that the club should be fighting to keep.
For to long, peolpe that have spent many years with the footy club have packed up and moved on to other clubs without any fight coming to keep them - to name a few: Daniel Fletcher , Luke Rayner, Luke Primus, Drew Kelly, Brett Baldwinson, Tim Barton, Dean Holroyd, Darren Savickas, Richard Buckwell, Peter Wilkinson, Matt Bruhn just to name a few that left the grovey footy club after coming through the junoir system and went to play at other local clubs. (apologies to all the others that i have not mentioned)
I'm sure there are a couple in the above group that would be walk up starts to coach the club or that could be now running the admin side of the footy club.
Dont get me wrong, i do admire the current people for putting there hands up to give time to run the place, but there needs to be some sort of succession plan that keeps these sort of people with 15-30 years involved with the club (juniors /senior), no letting all their experience go to other local clubs...[/quote]
