How can the AFL legally impose sanctions on players attending a private event based on an anonymous complaint? This seems like a huge over-reach with what we know so far.
The AFL can impose basically any sanctions they want on players. There's very broad allowances for it in the CBA.How can the AFL legally impose sanctions on players attending a private event based on an anonymous complaint?
The funniest part is going to be if someone is fined literally because they performed Raygun's routine - "Dude, that's too offensive and over the line!"Imagine being suspended for a Diddy party joke (said in private).

Too soonI think the suggestion was dressing up as Hitler and Eva Braun.
that is my guess.Or it could have been a worker employed by the venue they were at had complained.
That doesn't make sense, because the post-season event took place before the GF.Turns out the bartender was a Swans supporter.
He was offended that some players came as Swans Grand Final players.
The club tried to explain that no, they didn't - there was just some players who didn't show up.
Your micromanaging of my jokes doesn't make any sense either, but here we are. That doesn't make sense, because the post-season event took place before the GF.
It's beyond crazy the AFL is micromanaging like this.
Your anger over this, rightful so, is making you miss the joke. That doesn't make sense, because the post-season event took place before the GF.

More details coming out.
More details emerge on GWS’ post-season function which could lead to suspensions and fines
Some details relating to the Giants.www.sen.com.au
I just don't understand why it's coming out in such piece-meal fashion. So hold up.
Players are being suspended/fined for actions in a private event that were "offensive" but no details of the alleged incident.
Sounds like a huge over reach and over reaction from AFL house here.

I'm sure there have been many questionable and regrettable things go on at these type of events in the past, and not-too-distant past.I know Bartel has resigned from the board, but maybe the players were just taking his lead. Here he is arriving at a Mad Monday as the schoolgirl with ex-saint & player manager Ricky Nixon just after the scandal about his s*x life was made public.

Oh and speaking of St Kilda - at one of their mad Mondays they ACTUALLY SET A DWARF ON FIRE
If Leigh Montagna has anything to say about us, in the immortal words of Plow Wallace “I’ll spew up”
And this wouldn’t be a blemish on a toe nail of most mad Mondays, ever.I'm sure there have been many questionable and regrettable things go on at these type of events in the past, and not-too-distant past.
The Pies now regretting their refusal to come to Sydney for Round zero, 2025?This is absolutely outrageous. There was a dress-up event, but the club cleared the players of any illegal activity. I fail to see why it’s an issue as it was a PRIVATE party limited only to the players with the public blocked off. Maybe the skits were rude but since when did it became the AFL’s business to police bad jokes/ bad dress sense? F@&$ the AFL
The incident took place at a post-season event with a dress-up theme of “celebrity couples”, and while the Giants’ own probe cleared the players of any illegal activity, the league has come down hard on those involved.
