Gigs you are looking forward to

I hear Men Without Hats are playing at The Dallas Brooks Hall in October this year. Other than Safety Dance, what other songs did these clowns ever sing? I might take my `Keep North South' plackard & wave that around on the night while wearing a Karate Kid Headband & my Hulk Rules singlet.

Does it matter? They can just play it on a loop. It'll go off.

It's worth heading along to Dallas Brooks Hall just for nostalgia purposes.

Looking forward to WOMAD this weekend, 3 days of music on 5 stages for about 14 hours a day. Sensational.

Lots of music from all over the world, it'll cost me heaps in new CD's and junk food, but it's worth it.

It's a long way from my last concert, the Foo Fighters, to WOMAD, but it's good to stretch your boundaries. I go to WOMAD every year, it's my favourite weekend of the year, it's even good fun for my 2 1/2 year old. Plus it's always fun to laugh at the hard-core hippies, and the wannabe hippies (who are probably accountants by day).

Agree with the Safety Dance on loop, it's like looking at a car crash, you know you shouldn't, but you can't help yourself.

Madness would be sensational, very envious.

I was looking forward to Counting Crows at the Palais until I found out they were charging $109 per ticket.

Will have to get my ticket for Okkervil River sorted.

Likewise, Chops.

Especialy since Mogwai was a done deal for tix by the time I (too late) realised what the date was, in relation to the date of their show. (Bastard, shintemaster.) Oh well. Snoozed, lost.

Also agree that seeing Madness would be absolutely f***ing aces.

That is mental. You could buy the Palais for $109.

Do they just play 'Mr Jones' on a loop, or do they flick the switch on some 'Big Yellow Taxi' aswell to really get the part started?

Got some ones I'm very much looking forward to in the next fortnight.. Eric Clapton next week, Kings of Leon and Sound Relief gig at The G

Off to see EC on Tuesday night, 24_Spud. I'm looking forward to it but am a little worried that it will be too similar to his previous Australian concerts a couple of years back. Variety is the spice of life.

Time will tell, as a great man once said.

Dish is likely to suicide now that Counting Crows have been boiled down to their most basic shit truckularity.

His death will be on your hands.

Thought I'd bring this thread back to life as I enjoy glancing through it once in a while at Lidge's Lounge...

Well I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the living legend Leonard Cohen skip on and off stage for 3-4 encores. The golden voice is still working brilliantly even at his age. Once in a lifetime opportunity and a great experience.

On the local scene I saw An Horse at the Northcote Social Club and think they could be headed for good things. One of my favourite bands on the local scene. Some really identifiable neurotic lyrics. The drummer is also good... he's on the angry pills.

For the future, looking forward to catching the Deathcab for Cutie gig coming up. Hope Mr. Gibbard brings along his girl Zooey Deschanel either to sing with or just as some eye candy.

Well this band received one of the biggest breaks you can receive... will be on Letterman Wednesday night (Thursday night for those in Australia).

From the Northcote Social Club to the Ed Sullivan Theatre. That's bloody amazing.

Ignorance is bliss. Cracking band with a cracking back catalogue (and a couple of cheesy radio-friendly hits).

Managed to snag a ticket on Ebay for $50 anyway so I'm happy.

A little pre-cursor to The Who shows that will kick off on Sunday after the Grand Prix.

Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend of The Who at a press conference for the Australian Grand Prix held at Crown Casino.

Very much looking forward to seeing Simon & Garfunkel, after the announcement of their tour this week. Very excited, another of the acts I thought may never grace our lovely shores again! :)

On a "gig I was looking forward to" last week, but is now a "gig you're fondly reminiscing about", saw The Who at the Melbourne GP last weekend, absolutel phenomenal, absolutely blew me away. Great set list, great sound and sounded bloody brilliant!!:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

I never understood how you could do the "Safety Dance" without wearing a Hard Hat. Fricken Men Without Hats were a bunch of idiots.

Dave's not here, man.

So thats where the League Of Gentlemen got it from.

On topic, was very happy to see ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail Of The Dead are touring Oz in May.

Should be a cracker.

To be honest, 'round here, we could care less.

Dish. Man. Honestly.

Excellent :thumbsu:

Cheech and Chong are back on the road for the first time in more than 25 years bringing their wonderfully wacky humour down under with a tour that has received rave reviews in America and includes the infectiously funny Shelby Chong.

They will perform as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, the Sydney Comedy Festival as well as dates in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.

Are you going? I'm going to shoot them tomorrow night - will be interesting to see what their show is like.

I wouldn't have minded seeing The Flaming Lips at Festival Hall.

So I did.

Walked out from work for a smoke this arvo, heard them sound-checking, got talking to a couple of dudes from the backstage crew having a smoke nearby, they quickly saw I was a music freak and a fan of the band, and ended up being allowed to pop my head in for a few minutes. Saw the mighty Lips run through 2 tracks - a new song that I wasn't familiar with (sounded superb but), and an absolutely f***ing ripping rendition of "Fight Test". All viewed from a matter of mere metres.

Still can't wipe the smile off my face.
