The side should be

Watson
Marsh
Hodge
Symonds
Ponting
White
Hopes
Crosthwaite
Simpson
Johnson
Tait
12th - Greeves
13th - Warner
14th - D.Hussey

Ponting to bat at 5 gives us a steadier if need be. No need playing to many pure bowlers when you have Watson, Symonds and Hopes

Bowling line-up
Tait
Johnson
Watson
Hopes
Symonds
Simpson
White
Hodge

If White plays he bneeds tobat early. To many people are caught up on his big hitting. He should bat high.

Test Side for the Ashes should be but won't be
Katich
Hughes
Ponting
Clarke
M.Hussey
White
Watson
Haddin
Johnson
Siddle
S.Clark
12th - Mcgain
13th- Hilfenhaus
14th- D.Hussey
15- Warne - Bring back for Ashes cricket!!!!! if he tours let him teach the young fellas all the night spots to avoid.

North is miles better than White and a better bowler at least he can contain.

Imagine going out on piss with Katich, S Clark and S. Watson makes Luke Maguire look like Andrew Symonds!!!

I cant take anyone serious who puts Simpson in there side. And croswaite too are you kidding. He has nothing on haddin.

White is not good enough bat or bowler for tests, North proved he could do the job.

Re: Nth Gippsland Football League

He could handball more, but, the game that he plays, he runs and carries the ball and then gets in a position to kick and can't deliver. Of course Stratford would be better for having him. I just stated that I think he is capable of winning league B&Fs, so, obviously that means, I think we would love to have him at Stratford. I made 4 points about him, 3 positive, 1 negative. Obviously, I think there is more upside than down.

Some things can't be taught, ie. running ability, ball getting ability (and, probably, unfortunately for him, kicking to a certain extent). He has those naturally. I can hit a target 9 times out of 10, however, if I play in the midfield at 187kgs, I am probably not gunna get the chance to hit the targets all that often cos I'll be standing with the trainer being fed pies and sausage rolls whilst my man is 100 metres away setting up goals. I am not saying he is no good, what I am saying is, of the tools required, he has most of them, and for that reason he is not under rated, but, everyone in the league knows his strengths (nearly everything, except probably weightlifting) and his weaknesses (kicking).

Surely, the fact that he holds the ball inside out and then spins it onto his boot can be rectified. Someone has got to be able to take him aside for the next 2 months at training (he is fit as fit, and doesn't need too much work on his running and fitness) and work on the way he holds the ball and the way he drops it. This may result in a downturn in his efficiency for a small period of time, but, in the long run, it will be a massive benefit.[/quote]

I would say this will never be rectified. Its like trying to teach sam bristow to play technically correct cover drives, or in a better example stuart anderson to bowl behind the popping crease. Just aint going to happen, its something he has grown up with, he doesnt care and Rod Tatt was one who worked with him to not much benefit he just ended up kicking torpedoes...the other point is that that in most games you may have seen him (nothing against stratford) time has been on his side to run. You would be suprised at the handballs he does have in and under.

2 points here, 1, I'm not bagging the kid, what I am saying is that I think he could potentially be as good as any going around if his kicking was as hot as the great man who coaches him now.

Second point, I didn't realise the magnitude of the task at hand until it was compared with trying to teach Roo to stop bowling no balls, I actually have some video footage of him bowling in the A grade semi final where his front foot is actually over the danger area marks, let alone the front line!! Easily the biggest cheat local cricket has ever seen!

Re: Nth Gippsland Football League

Not bashing anyone here but was wondering if kodie woodland played on the weekend. I don't know what grade he plays for even if he does play but his die hard supporters have gone abit quiet this week on him.

As for the no-ball argument - blame umpires. pretty simple thing to get right i would think. Foot over line call no-ball. There for the great Stuart Allan Evens Anderson does not bowl noballs!!! due to the amount of wickets he takes each year the SMCA should make him bowl from behind the stumps though - just to even things up for others!

Other cricket rumour -
College Cricket Club is about to sign Rowan Blandford from Merlieu for season 2009-10. He wants to play a higher standard of cricket than the BCA before trying his luck at District level.

Re: Nth Gippsland Football League

The liqourice all sorts are looking good this year:

Matt Foster-College
Jack Moore-Alberton
Rowan Blandford-Meerlieu
Steve Nicholls-Sale
Nathan King-Bundalaguah
Stu the Roo-College
Mark Trethowan-Paynesville
Geoff Wells-RK
Chris Malone-Raiders
Mark Nicholls-Sale
Luke Henderson-Wurruk

That would be your best side?? With only two blokes having played juniors at College...

Trethowan is gone. malone retired, wells 50/50.
The side would look more like
Foster
Blandford
S.Nicholls
Anderson
King
Hurley
Moore
Morelli
Wells / Davidson
M.Nicholls
L.Henderson

Henderson will play 2's if the club can secure Jack Kellier as the overseas player. As him and S.Nicholls can both bowl offies.
Not 100% sure but did
N.Tatterson - RK
J.Mayman- Sale
S.Waxiel- ??
L.Schilg - Bundy
All play juniors????
Henderson also didn't play juniors at Wurruk as he grew up in Bairnsdale.

So that makes 4 junior players at College
Anderson, Foster, Hurley and Morelli

Re: Nth Gippsland Football League

Anderson no certainty ethier from what I hear on rumour file:eek:

Yeah, apparently Nick Morelli is going to captain coach the 1st XI and Stu isn't happy about it, so, he is starting his own side out at Pearsondale in John Mayman's back yard. They will play under the tag the Pearsondale Pirates, and plan to rape and pillage the SMCA for all its worth in coming seasons.

Re: Nth Gippsland Football League

in previous discussions it is known to all if a certain individual does not pull on the collegians colours there will be a change at the top of the club.
The 3 muppets behind the bar may be cut to 2, 1 or maybe 0.

And prob chuck morelli up the order really came home with a wet sale to the ladder end of the season, still yet to be dismissed in a A grade grand final

Dont play a grade both have been at stratford since 1990, i think they have shown there loyalty to one club. I have never mentioned where the foreigners played juniors just where they were before college, Warrior.

Waixel also came to the club from South Melbourne and has played at stratford since 1998 maybe. So is showing loyalty...

A possible a grade squad for stratford could be

S Anstee
C Aurisch
M Roberts
A Tatterson
T Millar
A Phillips
L Maguire
L Channing
T Tatterson
J Bristow
S Howden
S Williams
S Bristow
J Tatterson
J Mayman
S Waixel

Three blokes to never play juniors at stratford will be in bold however two of them are in the top five wicket takers of all time at the club. It does show a development program that has worked, no need to get defensive

Yeah i think he could probably find a spot in the top 6 of their 2nds..
Where he should of been for the last year or 2.

Aussies are shit.

How can you go from 1-95 to 9-122 against Pakistan. At least my man Watson made some runs.
