See Chris Dunne kicked a lazy 7 for NT Thunder last week. Heap of ex-Gippslanders playing in the Northern NEAFL this year. The Labrador v Broadbeach game alone had half a dozen. Bugger all work in SEQ atm too. Must be the warmer winters.

Morwell are playing Berwick on Saturday. I seen a bit of their game V pakenham on Saturday & they look very fit and some handy recruits. Tom Crosby is a massive get for them. Jeff Ryan back from Blackburn in the EFL will be as good a midfielder going around in the league, the Bailey boys from thorpy look as though they will be able to play the higher level. The rumour is they also have a big name recruit ready to sign but are keeping their cards pretty close to their chests on that one.

Wouldn't be Brad Knowles would it, he's back in the area.

not sure how morwell went against pakky but headed down to watch the gulls play them today. Quiet a disappointing win really they looked good early but then ran around like headless chooks.. but responded after a halftime rocket from the coach but still didn't capitalise kicking 15 odd points in what was a somewhat blowy day. think the margin in the end was about 4 goals

how has Sale gone in its prac matches? i beleive they were playing St Bedes Mentone? Interested to hear any other scores from around the traps

Morwell beat Pakky by about 11 goals. They played Berwick on the w/e & won by about 2 goals apparently. Both sides had a couple of players out each but apparently looked good

I also popped in and watched a couple of quaters of this game. That was long enough to see that both these side will be in for long seasons in their respective leagues. Both teams struggled to hit targets 20 metres away and the wind was not even that bad. Pakenhams ruckman didnt even look to contest in the ball ups making it easy for Warraguls onballers to dominate centre clearances. Hopefully both teams had key players out I know Pakys lost a few but from what i saw they may struggle to win a game.

Interesting results from rd 1. Couple of floggings handed out !!! Interesting to see wonthaggi were up to there old tricks on saturday night against leongatha Tim Gilliland not bothering to play footy just going round trying to knock Hayden Browne all night out who was by far the best player on the ground. Intersting to see gilliland named in there best players not sure why perhaps that was his job as he battled to get a kick !!

The maggies finished 21 goals to the good of Bairnsdale ,great day up there good crowd (albiet mostly disappointed and 1/2 as big by 1/2 time) ,Ryan Pendlebury easily BOG even though the cc has kicked 10.Sale will be hard to beat if they can keep that group on the ground all year.Andrew Quirk.........what can i say ,the guy is a machine!

Much the same report could have been written about Sale's first 5 or 6 games last year. Let's hope they don't have the same run of injuries that they did last year!

From what I saw over the weekend, a Sale vs Maffra GF may well be a possibility again this season.

any reports from around the grounds? apparently the gulls should have won but morwell snatched the game away due to some innacurate goal kicking in the last quarter by the gulls

Sale just a tiny bit lazy in the games I have seen. Maybe they are in preservation mode after last years injury meltdown. It's very hard to see them losing a lot of games and they have top players who have yet to yet to kick a ball in anger. There are no obvious weaknesses and speed is in abundance. The delivery around the ground is breathtaking. Maybe a windy day will slow them a touch, but they are looking ominous!

Sale v Maffra a bit one sided today. Shocking slippery conditions for both teams but Sale did as they pleased and won by 10 goals. The loss to Morwell has livened them up I reckon and the game coming soon against Leongatha will be well worth seeing. Maffra suffering from inconsistency's and obvious lack of condition on a couple of senior players. They won't figure strongly at the pointy end of the season.

Had another look at Sale today V Bairnsdale. One of the most one sided games I can remember in any senior footy comp!!!!!!!
Bairnsdale = abysmal, Sale = clinical!
Who's gunna stop the Sale juggernaut now? It's going to be either injuries or a massive loss of form by ALL of their stars.

That says it all Bairnsdale were abysmal ,reminds me of the results of their games just before they decided to pull the pin in the 90's ,Sale are good but not as good as they looked on Saturday although it is a long time since i have seen such an acomplished back 6 as they have at the moment ,(Quirk ,Pendlebury ,Fyfe ,Dessent ,Wallace ,Laverty as a sweeper) and they still have Todd to slot back in there in the next couple of weeks, yeah they are going to take some tossing but Leongatha didn't look far away last Saturday night and Morwell are notching up some impressive wins also so anything could happen.

Anyone heard anymore about Vernon from Leongatha? Was told he is in the Mercy on a ventilator with a serious neck injury, terrible thing to happen to anyone!
