Gippsland League Part 2

Morwell got out of the blocks early today at Morwell v Sale. Once Sale got fully into stride in the 2nd qtr they dictated play for the remainder of the match. A late 1st qtr goal and then more focus on their own game, saw Sale draw away to a strong win against a good side in Morwell. Sale had a balanced spread of 4 qtr workers whereas Morwell had quite a few who did a bit then faded, all through the match. Sale also seemed to have a much better grasp on the slippery but reasonably firm conditions. Their footskills were actually very good too. Dunkley again played very well and his 3 goals, tackling and pressure at the ball was a sight to behold.

Peter (Jibba) Ainsworth 250 senior games for Moe this week. Only 3rd player in the history of Moe Football Club to achieve this mile stone , great achievement from a bloke who goes about his business without fuss & fanfare. Congratulations Jibba. I hope his Moe team mates can put in a competitive performance against Maffra this week to show respect to such a loyal player. A shame the club has failed so dismally over the past couple of years, no fault to Jibba and the playing group (who are doing their best with very limited talent). All responsibility lays with the previous committees and their decisions over the last few years.

Well done Jibba one freak of a player

Traralgon didn't let Sale have it's own way in the 1st 1/2 on Saturday in Rd 10. Then in the 3rd qtr, bang, bang, bang & it was all superb one way footy with Sale dominating to the tune of 8 goals and game over! They coasted a bit in the last 1/4 before finishing essentially 10 straight kicks to the positive. Big Jack Lipman has become a really good ruckman and his massive frame takes a lot of negating. Collins is an inspirational force with the Magpies. Whilst both teams had some top players missing, perhaps Traralgon missed theirs a bit more.

Great to see Moe pinch a win last weekend. Good for the club and the competition, nobody wants to see a club go winless. The next goal is to climb off the bottom of the ladder but at least the duck is broken

In the run to the finals who are gunna figure strongly?

Sale hard to beat with class and size everywhere and seem to cover injuries/unavailable players readily.
Morwell, when on their game, will push all others but must overcome injuries to key players moreso,
Traralgon often lacking a little in size and class but dangerous,
Maffra can score heavily but have inconsistency issues and seem to drop games they should have won,
Wonthaggi really gone off the boil. Not to be underestimated though.
IMO Sale Vs Morwell GF!

Doesn't matter who Sale play in the GF, they will win it by 45 points +.

Maffra Vs Traralgon this w/e is quite interesting. At the moment whilst locked on 36 points each, Maffra have not scored as heavily as Traralgon nor has their backline been as good, statistically. Traralgon's higher % could still play a part in final ladder positions. Many would have thought with Sheen kicking so many goals that this would not be the case. In saying this, I reckon Maffra will win this one comfortably. Morwell will trounce Drouin in the other split round game.

Maffra just got home in a tough wind swept game. Traralgon played dumb footy particularly when they allowed Maffra to push the play to the outer wing continually to deny any real chance of Traralgon scoring at the end favoured by the strong wind. Last 1/4 was any ones for a while but Maffra a bit smarter in the end. Traralgon looked short on tall players still, and this will not help in the finals. Maffra got goals from a spread of players without Sheen getting his bagful, however he played OK.

Re: Gippsland League

Moe to MGFL within 2yrs. A lot of players heading to Newborough on massive coin and more have said they'll leave at end of 2012. Lost heaps gained none.

Will be a good ground for away MGFL teams.
Why would Liam Durkin play for Moe today??? Don't deserve to wear the jumper, as I recall you had put a lot of shit on Moe in your earlier post on this forum. Just Shit House

What do both teams take out of Sale's absolute shellacking of 2nd placed Morwell tonight? 151 pts to 29 !!! Sale will have to try and get 5 of their best players back into the side in 2 weeks time too. I think Morwell also had a few out tonight! Not too sure how to read this game.

Well, the big dance is here. Who will triumph? For mine it's Sale by 12 goals.
I think Morwell can cause the upset of the season by knocking Sale over today - particularly if they go in with only the one recognised ruckman as they did in the 2nd semi. With Lipman playing a lone hand it forces them to take Davis away from the fwd line so that he is able to give Lipman a chop out as required and with Fraser out it leaves them undermanned in the fwd line. I know Ferg kicked 4 against Maffra a fortnight ago but 3 of them were dubious - a dodgy free kick, a free kick for retaliation after he crashed the CHB and the free for the water boy being inside the 50 (which by rights should have been taken at the centre square line - not the ten yard square!). Ferg, MClay and Schuback are also underdone - with only 1 or 2 games in about the last 6 or 7 weeks.
Morwell's pressure is also very good and with Lockyer having now played 2 in a row and should be cherry ripe to have a big influence on the game.
Morwell by 10 points.

looks like the procession is continuing, morwell by 77pts 3/4 time.

Latest coaching rumours:
*Ben Ross, not Allan Chandler, is now in the box seat at Drouin
*Griffin Underwood favourite for the Maffra gig

On the NGFNL forum it is rumoured Hayden Burgiel is to Coach Sale City in 2014. Anyone else heard this? Would be a good get at that level.
Edit: Now confirmed on Sale City website with photo included.
