Reid hands down, wins his own ball, burns off Petracca and nails three bounces and kicks it hard and flat at full speed.

Daicos rd16 is the weakest choice imo. He gets rewarded for missing a target with a grubber, then chipping a hospital ball to a team mate. Lucky it came off but literally took three bites to do anything meaningful with it.

Treloar, Fritsch, Merret were all stiff to miss out

The second Daicos goal is a very good goal. Not a great goal, but a very good one. The first Daicos goal seems decent but nothing more. I'd be amazed if I couldn't sit through the season's vision and come up with a few dozen just as exciting and skillful, and exhibiting a wider range of skills than these three do collectively (running rather quickly and bouncing the ball).

I loved the Daicos goal against Brisbane but still think thats a slightly worse version of Reid's goal, so it'll be Reid for me

Yep, the AFL have botched it with fan voting. It's now a popularity contest every week and to get in the final. It really should be chosen by a panel and the final one voted by fans. No one should ever have two entries into the final either, just decide which one is better.

It's because he has explosive pace. Reid's goal is very similar. Do you think that is hard to do or is it just genetics?

In this field, it’s Reid by the length of the straight.

But gee, Bont, Fritsch very stiff, Moir’s goal was cool. These all feel very much a variation on the same goal. Plenty of variety this year and none of it reflected in that field.

Usain Bolt isn't racing a few 30+ year olds or a lumbering KPD who are not fast. I can outrun my kids at the park and slot them from straight in front.

Reid's goal is at least through congestion in the middle.

I have to say this is a pretty low crop of highlight goals this year if that's voted the best 3, yes I know it's fan voted, but not every footy fan votes so I think some better goals have slipped through.

If that's our only choice though I'd probably go Daicos rd 16, but it's a pretty low bar for best goal of the year and I'm sure I could find better elsewhere if I had the collection available.

Reid's was the only one I knew would be in the final 3. Was goal of the year the second he kicked it.

The Daicos goal against the Suns is interesting. It's a great solo effort, but also includes two skill errors before the goal is eventually kicked.
