I thought Cameron’s earlier in the season was very good as well. Let’s admit it wasn’t getting any better than Ashcrofts goal last year!

Daicos' second goal required more evasiveness and shimmies than Reid's to be sure, and also had a bit of a broken tackle to it, but he still runs a fairly straight line (if we are counting that as a negative).

Things which elevate Reid's goal though are that he collects it further back (a good 2m behind the outer circle rather than dead centre), it is a legitimate hard ball get and clearance rather than handballl receive and he bounces 3 times and kicks from further out.

The bouncing part is splitting hairs but is relevant because Daicos clearly ran more than 15m before his first bounce.

I'll pay that reasoning.

He ran about 20, which people get away with all the time, but considering both goals are so similar, it's a relevant consideration that one was completely legit and one wasn't.

Then again, if we are going to label Gary Ablett Sr's dropped "mark" the literal Mark of the Century, we may as well just award a behind as GOTY as long as the bloke had a good try.

Pretty poor selection variety.

Nick Daicos goal against GC shouldn't be in the top 3, his running goal against Brisbane is much better but probably outdone by Reid.

The should have selected a bit more variety, give something where someone is in heavy traffic weaving, or kicking it from the boundary under pressure.

Reid should win out of those three but the selection is shit by the AFL.

Yep, the AFL have botched it with fan voting. It's now a popularity contest every week and to get in the final. It really should be chosen by a panel and the final one voted by fans. No one should ever have two entries into the final either, just decide which one is better.

Or just have a panel of 4 people who each get a vote, and then the fan vote also counts as 1. That way us nuffies can feel involved but if the fan vote is clearly biased then it can effectively get overruled by the panel.
