Tertiary and Continuing Going on Exchange

Bump.

So I'm looking to head to the US on exchange for a semester somewhere between early 2012 - to early 2013. I currently work full time in a pretty well payed government job and am studying Business (Accounting/Finance major) part time. So would be looking to do a semester full time. Had a bit of a look at the sister universities of my uni UTAS and the pickings are pretty slim (http://www.international.utas.edu.au/static/StudentMobility/TheAmericasUniversities.php). The ones I am interested in a rough order are:
  • University of Texas
  • University of Virginia
  • Colorado State University
  • Missouri State University

I'm actually really keen for Texas, a fairly big sporting culture to get into, seems pretty good. As well as being generally a good uni. Austin is known as the "music capital of the world" which also appeals massively to me.

Anyone know anything about those unis? Or even just the cities in general. Or think the other possibilities would be better?

I would go to Texas. While UVIRGINIA is prob the best academically, you'll have a great time in Texas and it has a huge sporting culture.

I'm currently studying in the US at the moment at the University of Pennsylvania and having a fantastic time. Make sure you go! It will be the time of your life!

I applied at UPenn among some other US schools after my exchange year there. Great school!

Anything exchange is a fantastic opportunity, cats.
Most important thing: try not to stick with fellow int'l students. I saw that happening a lot and continue to see it. It seems to be more convenient to associate with int'ls, because everyone is making the same experience and locals already have their little tight-knit groups. Sports activities/courses are good to get in touch with them, though. Don't be too demanding and expect life-long friendships, but embrace them if it happens. Yeah, that should sum it up for now ^^.
Have a great time!

Well, just got my acceptance for exchange to Canada next semester.
Genuinely can't wait.
Skiing before semester, then hitting up the US after I finish.

I'm in my final year of uni next year and have always wanted to go on exhange to the U.S.

How costly is it? Because I'm travelling around America in between semesters next year, so I couldn't think of a better way to combine my holiday and studies.
