The GRFL night of nights. What a night. One big **** up after another. Jack Baker anounced winner of thirds b&f, mum rang people to tell them, then half an hour later they come up and tell him they !@#^ed up and he didn't win. Poor kid. And then they gave the ressie ump of the year award to a bloke who umpired 1 game for the year. Must have been a good game.:thumbsdown:

Any injuries either side for this sat? Heard a couple of swans won't be playing? Wot a joke with last nights stats...your right! Who's tipping who for this sat & by how much...

Well what a nite she was last nite! Poor ol' Jack Baker had to feel bad for him, but it did have to happen if the counting of the votes is incorrect then something must be done about it on the nite! But Kyle Doran did hit the nail on the head, those sorta things shouldnt happen. Not only did Wattsy end up winning it but there was only one trophy made with Baker's name already ingraved on it! Red Hogan did only umpire one game of 2's for the year but I think they got the Under 17's and Reserves umpires mixed up. There also didnt seem to be enough Rookie nomination medals to go around and the repeat of round 13 I think it was in the count was another balls up! But on a lighter note, a very worthy winner in Will Callow has had a fantastic year

Wandella have beaten moul twice during the year when it was dry, so if its dry sat you would think they would be favorites. The only place pudje buckley would be BOG would be at the pub.

Touche...i heard him and his sidekick took out the title at pub last sat night!
Moula 5 goals and best on Mick Morson.:D

Hahahahaha.... Oh me ribs!!! Red Hogan's wins the reserves umpire of the year award by default. I will not let up on him come Wyche cup day.

Was interesting to see the Hay boys perched up behind the goals drinking their piss that they bought into the ground on satdy, obviously have jack all respect for their own club as u'd expect them to support their own club but enough said.

League vote count tonight, should be interesting but still think Callow for the seniors, either Millard (how's he still eligible?) or Ladson for Rookie of the year, Maqualter for the shirt tearers and Watts for the under 17's.
Bad luck to Murrabit too with the loss of the Prelim. Mad cow, does this mean that Josh Dwyer and Blair Monk cannot play in the Grand Final? Alby Saunders also lookd pretty sore mate?
As for the seniors, well Murrabit staged a pretty handy comeback considering how far they were down by at half time, just needed a bit more time and the results may have varied. Ol Nathan "Magic" Mclean gotta lot of the pill but cant kick over 30metres, but was awesome to watch!
shouldnt that award went to the kid who has made the furthest in his footy career already and that is kyle symons from ultima. that is harsh, considering he is the only kid to make pioneers from the legue

Granny three days away... Would be good to see who everyone thinks will win and the B.O.G winners.

Seniors: Wandella, i think they will put the 2nd Semi behind them and play like the did during the season... Will Callow B.O.G

Reserves: Nully by 20 points... Jayson Moloney BOG

U17's Wandella.. Pretty confident they will go two years Undefeated and win by about 20-30 points.. But who knows finals is a different game... Too many to choose from but i think Troy Robinson or Aidan Murphy for BOG

U14's Wandella for the Hat-trick Premiership by 10 points... Josh Robinson BOG

Would like to no wat others think...:thumbsu::)

I disagree with you on this one Pratty, I believe that the Rookie of the Year should be decided on whom has had the greatest impact in the GRFL as it is the GRFL Rookie of the year, not who has done the best in surrounding football feats, higher standard or not. You must also remember that Kyle Symons was only in a Bendigo Pioneers U16 youth development squad therefore the kids only young and has plenty of opportunities to win the award in the future. Symons has had no way near the impact at senior level in this competition as Ladson this season who i believe was a very worthy winner.

im not sure how leigh millard was still eligible for rookie of the year...? also on the grfl site it says that samuel cleary from ultima did not poll a vote in the league bnf...surely a mistake on the website...?

Shame on you GRFL on vote count.. How can things get stuffed up at league level. I was at the vote count and have neve seen anything like it. Poor Jack Baker it was one of his greatest nights for about 1/2 hr then one of the worse nites. :thumbsdown:and who actually adds votes up as they are read........:thumbsdown::thumbsdown:once it has been anounced it should have been left.
The league should do what netball does and give out runner up trophy's anyway. The umpires trophy for ressies a complete joke. I might umpire one game next year and win a trophy. Get your act together Golden Rivers.
Good luck to all teams in Grand Final......

Agree it was a debacle, but can't agree with this point. Plenty of people show interest in how each player went for their club, so it isn't that rare for people to count thier own clubs votes. But it was a lose/lose situation for Jack, and even Wattsy. Jack had to be told on the night, it was the right thing to do....hard to take but the right decision was made. And Wattsy was forgotten amongst all this, he was the winner on his own and thoroughly deserved it, but the Unders count won't be remembered for Wattsy's win, its for Jack's loss now, which is a shame.

good to see Matty Ladson win the rookie of the year very good footballer would love to see him at Cohuna or Kerang next year but wayne is Macorna through and through!

it should be given to the best player and symons clearly is.if ladson is so good running round with the seniors making a big impact whats that telling ya bout this legue. (not much).

Just coz it's not much of a league, Ladson is still a gun its not his fault his faimly is at Macorna. Ladson got the B&F for 3rds last year, symons also played the whole year but didn't win it shows that Ladson is better, He deserved the Rookie.

Ladson is a very good player and was stiff to miss out on Pioneers selection last year, hopefully he can make the squad this year. Symonds is still a kid, he has some talent but he is still a kid and he didn't influence senior games like Ladson did. Ladson polled 9 votes (the second most for Macorna) in the senior B&F count which shows that he was a standout even in the umpires mind. For you not to think that Ladson was not the standout junior in the league means you have no idea about footy or your a bitter Ultima guy (Kyle perhaps) that can't accept being beaten by a better man. And I think Ladson would make an impact in what ever league he chooses to play.
