That is what the club has done
The reaction to Boris's video is totally out of proportion to the vid.
Sorry but JB and Roogene have stuffed up and made it worse with
1.The entire team list forced to apologise to a frozen chicken.
2.Then having any player having to front up to TFS.
Their reaction has helped parts of the media make a mountain out of an ants nest.Wait to see how USC uses this as a reason for us to fold, merge or relocate.

Silly joke that should have stayed in house, but the reaction from the club will give this story way more legs than it should have

I couldn't agree anymore with you!

I think that it's North's overreaction that has made this incident worse than it really is.... I just don't get it.

It was a silly prank that meant no harm to anybody! What is the world coming to? Surely there are other news stories they can run with...

what are u talking about mate

this incident definitely needed 2 press conferences and a section on the footy show

Ease up man, frozen chickens have feelings too.
Hater.

My first reaction to the video was that it was pretty off and went way too far.

My first reaction to the comparison with domestic violence against women was that THAT was pretty off and went too far.

However a wife beater doesn't have the right to say that it was just a little love tap. If women are offended by this shite, then the club has not gone over the top. And none of us good ol' boys have the right to say a damn thing about that.

Not that the incident was bad, but it still amazes me that Adam Simpson was involved.

He seems the type whose wild night will be watching 3 episodes of Who loves Raymond in a row

If I were to compile a list of least likely suspects he would have been on it for sure.

So those of us that watched the video and saw nothing more than a rubber chicken and a frozen chicken should STFU because someone might have taken offence to something??

PS Congratulations on now linking Boris the rubber chicken to wife beating. Next Boris will be linked to the Dallas Book Depository. Where will it end.

Surely it's about the intent...

Intending to haven an inhouse joke isn't a hanging offence. I see no intent to offend women.

How stupid does the media take us for if this shite is even more than a pissy brief artilce...

I know you are not that asinine.

You can say you are not offended but you have no right to tell women that they are not offended. Clear?

As for the wife beating thing - it's a metaphor. I could have referred to racism instead but that may have stretched your capacity for comprehension to breaking point. To revise - the perpetrator (or the accomplice or the the witness or even the innocent bystander) do not get to determine how badly affected or offended the VICTIM was in any form of discrimination. You can rabbit on as much as you like but it's just not your call.

Women groups are ruining any fun that's associated with football. All you have to do these days is to be seen with a beer and you have to do 20 hours of community service with a womans group.

Disgrace.

We have to be careful what we do know.I saw no harm in it but that just me.I had a laugh but others jump on any bandwagon to be heard.Well done to the club and players and lets move on and beat the Hawks thsi weekend.Atleast they where honest about it.

So if you make a joke to me about the inability of weathermen to accurately predict the weather, and some sub-section of society is offended by the joke, you should have to apologise to them?

What a load of utter garbage.

That's if they womens' groups even let you do your community service with them -- just ask Bock.

If weathermen are vital to your bottom line and ability to actually continue to operate as a business then yes, it would be a good idea to apologize.

Big difference between apologising for diplomatic reasons and apologising for genuinely doing something wrong.

I took your earlier post to be a call for the latter; not the former.

If I misunderstood you (that is, if you think we should apologise to shut the haters up not -- not because something genuinely reprehensible was done) then I apologise.

Well the point is, if we'd managed to bury this thing before it was ever posted online for anyone to see, there would be nothing to apologize for. As it stands, the apology is not about posting it, it's about making it in the first place so it's all bass ackwards.

I think it was bloody dumb to make it, but once it went public, we had to apologize for the sake of women, for the sake of our sponsor which was unfairly compromised by this nonsense, and finally because it was the absolute minimum required by the AFL.

As for haters, you know what, in this issue it gets a bit hard to work out who exactly the haters are.

Yep way overboard... I mean to they apologized over a chicken. WTF!

People need to get over it and see it for what it was, a joke, not a "sex crime on women" or derogatory to women.

Do you seriously think we could have stood our ground and not apologized? Likely that would have left you, me and a bunch of other unco-ordinated feebs playing Hawthorn this weekend.
