The most damning thing in that interview is how lazy coaching at essendon is.

Then he says the club hadn't had a proper training session all week.
Even without drug cheating this is Hird's coaching style at essendon:
Early training session to Hird is what 0800?
Other clubs an early session is before sunrise.
Doesn't have a full training session until Wednesday.
Other clubs are getting stuck into it by atleast Tuesday.
goes out to dinner with everyone on Friday including their folks.
Other clubs keep a healthy distance between coach and players.

So Ed McGuire who has actually been behind the Bombers through all this has finally realised how screwed they are. He sounded very sombre on the radio this morning and spoke about the CAS and how they don't even care about a lack of positive tests in cases like this and used Lance Armstrong as an example. If enough evidence is provided to at least HINT at the idea that it was happening, they attack.

My memory of events is that those brave, selfless, innocent Bombres decided to take it on the chin for the good of the game... or decided that throwing further millions down the drain fighting an air-tight case when everybody except their sad supporters knew full well that they were guilty, was not really good business. Can't remember which now...
