in the sun today it suggested that he was very close to being elevated this week after a great preformance in the werribee twos last week

He plays well in 3rd grade and might get promoted to first?

I guess Murph's injury has a bit to do with it.

I'd love to see him get a game though.

Funny thing is, obviously not watching VFL, but regularly watching SANFL, the form in the lower grades often doesn't compute.

Have seen MANY examples of SANFL players doing next to nothing in the SANFL, then getting promoted to the AFL (to the surprise of many) and getting in the nest players.

A few years ago Glenelg were playing South Adelaide.

B Lade was dropped from the Powa (too many good ruckmen including Primus) and played for South.

He was truly inept, played ff, kicked maybe 1 goal, dropped marks all day.

Primus got injured, he get picked for the Power, and was BOG in the AFL the week after!

Hopefully Davo will produce a similar miracle...

It would be a real shame if he never played a game after those supporters put that money up for him. Bassett at least got some exposure for his business and gets to sit in the coach's box for a week, but the anonymous one would feel a bit shafted if he never came up for a game.

Hopefully he'll play a good game for Werribee on the weekend and put his hand up after the break. He's clearly got some ability and we need someone to take Murphy's role.

The Werribee set up with podsy as the key forward will restrict his opportunities. I think its worth bringing him in and play him off the bench, maybe the last 10 mins of each quarter?

Now I am not a big follower of the vfl, but is it possible to rest Pods and give Davidson a go up forward as the go-to man. If Werribee is the true reserves for the doggies then surely this should happen, not restrict him because there is a better player who cant play for the dogs. The priority should go to developing the doggies players first and foremost.

If only the reserves were still around….

They are a stand alone team. Their priority is to win, not develop our players.

And from what I've read, a lot of players have reciprocrated in the past ie not try in grand finals etc

Fair enough, maybe the dogs have that freedom in the 2s at weribee so will develop him there and then throw him straight in the deep end??

It's happened and he has done nothing. If anyone is to come into the Dogs team it'll be Baird.
I don't know why so many supporters jump on a bandwagon like this. Tommy hasn't played very well at all to date, nor has he proven to be a great presence in the Werribee forward line when there.
Yes, Podsy can't get a game for the Dogs, but Werribee aren't going to boot him out just so the dreaming fans hoping for a Tommy D debut for the Dogs will get their wish.
I'm not going to raise the Podsy question again, but Tommy is a long way off and should have to work for his spot just like anyone else. And, at present he isn't the next best in line, especially when there is a need to elevate him.

I agree Baird should be the next player to come in, no doubt about it.

I’ll be honest, I couldn’t care less if weribee were to lose, if it meant developing senior listed players so they are ready for senior afl football, then it’s a win for the football club. So Davidson shouldn’t be promoted until he has shown what it is the selection panel is after, but having limited opportunities with weribee is not a good situation for the dogs or for Davidson.

When does werribee play box hill, play him then. Surely he will kick goals on zac dawson :D

Not sure Pods is such a bad thing for Tommy D. Pods seems to play more of a deeper forward role, while Tommy leads up the ground. They may in fact compliment eachother if they are both playing well.

Except I'm sure Weribee players look straight for Pods when they're coming into the forward line.

the fact that he got 30 posessions and took 16 makrs at least is an indication that he is getting around a bit on the field. perhaps he has shaken off his injury pronlems for now. if he can put in just about any reasonable perormance for the bee 1sts next week, then he is sure to get elevated.

the carrot is there

when tom played his 1 and only game for collingwood in 2004 he had average performances for williamstown but showed promise....in the qtr and a half that he played he looked very accomplished at AFL level even if it was for just over a qtr
I remember watching the match when he did his knee. He can play, and i thought Collingwood has a good one there. Lets hope he gets a shot pretty soon , as i think he has great potential.

the club has obviously taken another tact on the davidson conundrum, give the lad a large slice of confidence by upgrading him lets see how he performs.

We played them two weeks ago. On performance there are a number of guys ahead of Davidson for promotion, K-Mac & D-Mac are unlucky.
