SM please explain to me what sidebottom did was any different to Goodes.
Humour me.

From reading the main board facebook etc take a pick from

He didnt win all australian
Doesnt play for sydney
Didnt win australian of the year
Isnt aboriginal
Doesnt have cola

Thats right isnt it?

10 pages for that incidental contact? No wonder all the greats of the game are up in arms about the state of this part of the game, I hear everyone else complaining about it too but all I hear on bigfooty is whinge, whinge, whinge because its Goodes. Any thread title with Goodes in it goes crazy. A lot of hypocritical idiots on bigfooty.
BS. Viney was a joke and should never have been reported. Goodes however was a cheap shot for which players should be rubbed out for cheap shots.

This would have made a good discussion if Goodes had been cited.

The MRP didn't decide that what he had done wasn't wrong, however, they decided that what he did wrong wasn't to the level required for a reportable offence. Given Selwood was clearly dazed, and considering previous instances of suspension for lesser impacts, any reasonable person would question that decision.

It was so clear cut though, they didn't need to refer to the medical report

I would love to see the outcome had it been Mitch Robinson or Stevie J that made the contact in the exact same circumstances instead of Goodes in any given game.

2-3 weeks at least.

AFL are a joke.

Should he get off? Maybe not

But 3 weeks? For real?

Forget who it was, in general do you truly believe any player should have been reported for that?

I said 2-3 ( Not just 3 ) and i have no doubt if Mitch did the exact same hit that Goodes did that is what he would get.

The ride the Swans get from the AFL in so many different ways is nothing short of blatant cheating. The only people who cannot see it though are Swans supporters which is no surprise.

Dont you get it AFL. People are sick of it, sick of the inconsistency of the MRP. Sick of some players getting favourable treatment. Sick of the AFL giving handouts and allowing clubs to exploit those handouts. Sick of match day pricing of entry tickets and food. If 17000 at a Hawks home game and what 14,000? at a Bulldogs game doesnt ring alarm bells for someone at AFL house to wake up and smell the roses then people will continue to stay away and watch rugby and soccer.

By the letter of the rules and the way they are currently written it is a resounding YES and you would have to have your head in the sand to think otherwise.

Wonder if these implications went through goodseys head as he jumped

The sky is falling

I don't think he was ever really in the contest, nor is there an excuse to jump to 'brace'.

I suspect that if it wasn't Goodes it would be two weeks.

Deserves one max.

so that means we now have to scrutinise and report every single contest? Becasue really there was no malice at all..it was a fair contest.

Using precedence as an example (well AFL MRP make it up as they go)... Goodes should have been gone for two weeks at least. You have to wonder if the special round and the fact he was recently racially vilified worked in his favour as far as escaping penalties go.

LOL you cant be serious?
Well what was Viney, was that a cheap shot? No it was a contest. Goodes was a cheap shot, got him when he wasnt looking. Go watch some ice hockey bud you'll know what I mean by a cheap shot!! why am I even discussing this with a franchise supporter, all looking rosy for your mob eh! Cant wait though to see how youre going when all the other players realise there is no money to ask for a payrise in their contract.

I think the point he was making is Stevie J or Mitch would have copped 3 weeks.

That's what it comes down to. Ignore the noise ITT and basically you have an incident that was surely reckless and certain players in the AFL would more likely have copped a suspension. FWIW I do not see Goodes as the dirty player some people think, but he does have an ungainliness about the way he uses his size sometimes that is a bit dangerous, similar sort of to Dustin Fletcher in a way.

Forget who it was, in general do you truly believe any player should have been reported for that?
Of course yes, because the AFL has declared the head sacrosanct, and it also declared last year that if a bump is inflicted by a player with both feet off the grounds it is viewed differently. Now if a player or team don't like the MRP findings you can take it to the tribunal

What nonsense.
Do you want to see players get weeks for something like that? There won't be any available in 4 weeks.
Get real. He jumped for the ball. You can't seriously be arguing that players shouldn't jump for the ball just in case they hit someone. What's Jeremy Howe going to do?
