First time player here. A quick and I'm sure a very dumb question. Will I have problems if I pick a player who is listed as a defender but is a forward? They still score points?

No problems at all mate- in fact, one of the cornerstones of doing well in this game, is finding players who are listed as Def (or Fwd)- but who spend next year playing through the midfield.

Thanks mate. So if I pick Hurley who is listed as a defender, but he manages to play forward and kick few goals I'm doing well. Or if I pick Pavlich and he ends up playing more of a midfield role?

Do you think it's too risky to have Kennelly, Ladson and Waters / Hunt all in one side? IE: 3 of those 4? I just think if they stay fit it is a no brainer but obviously extremely risky. All are $300k+ players imo

I'm trying to work out the value of the new DP rule.

Do you have to substitute a DP player from one position (eg forward) for another DP player (eg midfield)? or can u just sub them into an empty spot in another position?

Assuming you can do the later, my theory to exploit it best is to put one of my forwards who also plays mid, (say Higgins) in the midfield. Then when i want to trade one of my forwards later in the year, i can trade them for a midfielder. I do this by removing them from of my team, subbing Higgins back into the forward line, thus leaving the empty spot in the mids, and only costing me one trade. Resulting in me being able to choose to replace any forward with either a forward or mid

I hope that made sense, Do the rules allow this?

Nope.

You can swap a MF in the mids with an MF in the forwards.

That's it. :)

Would this work?

Goddard (BC) in mids with Ellis/Ladson etc. in the backs.
Goodes (CF) in mids with Ziebell/Dangerfield etc. in forwards.

Goodes/Goddard can still average 100+ to justify their spots in the mids. When it comes to trade time (i.e. when mid/low-priced defenders/forwards have appreciated enough), swap Goodes/Goddard back to their respective posts, make Ladson/Dangerfield a mid (only for trading purposes) and make the upgrades to your mids...???

This, as well as extra doughnut security.

VS shouldve made it so you can swap like 3 players. Lets say Hodge, Sylvia and Waite. Waite (F/B), Hodge (B/C) and Sylvia (F/C). They shouldve made it so Hodge can go midfield, Sylvia can go forward and Waite can go to the backs. Therfore these players are all in there positions that they are given. This wouldve made the rule alot more appealing and strategy wouldve been used to a higher degree. This is what i thought the DP would be about, but unfortunatly not.

What your doing Jan Juc could have some merit to it.

G'day all

Regarding the group competition I have notice that there are a few groups offering prizes, the one's I am aware of are:

Brisbane Lions
1st place - signed 2010 lions guernsey
2nd place - signed sherrin
3rd place- supporter pack

Adelaide Crows
1st place - signed 2010 crows guernsey

Does anyone know of any others? does this warrant starting a thread?

No never paid. I finished 94th rota69 was well down the order. Given rota's previous form it is not surprising. He likes to big note himself but when it is time to pay up he mysteriously has a memory lapse.

So there is a warning for everyone - Do Not Trust rota69.

Stupid Muppet, i inboxed you saying if you can prove that we had a bet i would be very happy to pay but the fact that one was not organised means no bet was made. Nice try though

The posts people put up made it pretty clear there was a bet.

As per usual you just big noted yourself and then did not carry through with it. The bet was made you were then supposed to organise someone to hold the money. You did not do that but that did not affect the bet that was made. I assume when you went home and asked mummy for the money you got your bum smacked.

The bet was made and you did not pay.

So clown-boy I am willing to give you a double or nothing shot or are you just going to run your mouth and remain the loser you have shown yourself to be of late?
