3 brief points to make:

1. Echuca just about has the flag in the bag already. 129pt win over euroa yesterday and 137pt win over shepp the week before and has already beaten ky etc.
2. Kristan height is an absolute gun and just about the best of murray bombers recruits. BOG last week 42 touches and 10 goals yesterdday

3. Watch out mooroopna next weekend!

Gee, hope that bag is tightly closed, because what Ky done to us on saturday they are the best side we have met this year by a mile;)

If the grand final was played this week than for sure Echuca would be favourites, they are a very good side. But you only have to look back 12 months when Rochy were sitting on top of the ladder and lookiing like being an absolute shoe in for the flag. They didn't even make the grand final let alone win it. So just don't get too carried away yet.

Country footy fan you are obviously not from echuca because those sort of statements wont get you far. I do agree that height is a gun, but mooroopna are 2nd on the ladder and its on there home ground so it will be a test for echuca.

Ky have just about the best side on paper and perhaps they were a little bit off against echuca. you'd imagine they'll be on their game next time the two teams meet which will likely be in September

Echuca are no doubt the side to beat at this stage, though Ky will be bolstored by their bushies who didn't play when they met a couple of weeks ago. Reeves will go to the ruck and Ogden to midfield. Both killed when they played against the Cats . Reeves 4 goals and Ogden 35 possies.

Some good points Jaggo. Rinaldi, Reid,Evans,Costello,Sutton ,Xavier Campbell and hopefully Prendergast will strengthen Echuca. A long way to go but the next few weeks will sort Echuca out.

Ky have been a completely different side since Echuca gave them a reality check. Having said that there are a couple of very good teams that seem to be getting forgotten about. Rochy accounted for Echuca fairly comfortably and know what September is all about. United and the Swans are both full of matchwinners as well. I think this years finals is going to throw up alot of surprises and picking a winner or grand finalists is near on impossible.

On the money there MJ was just reading through the posts and not a mention of Rochy....they are their own special kind of human being, especially that Cavalarro, but they continue to deliver

when looking the ladder for the final 6 rounds I think its still very open and a few of the teams in United and Rochester and coming into a hard 4 weeks of games.
The Swans and Seymour game this week is MASSIVE

any reports from the Ky-Swans game?

was watching the sunday footy show and robbo was on and said he had a '30 second' punch on with the ky blokes, took him 3/4 to get over it.

great win by Ky and top effort from Paulo Newman with 10 majors

Anyone want to predict how the top 6 will end up after 7 more games.
Now After round 18
1. ECHUCA- 36 PTS 1. ECHUCA
2. MOOROOPNA-36 PTS 2. KYABRAM
3. KYABRAM-32 PTS 3. MOOROOPNA
4. SHEP UNITED-32 PTS 4. SHEP UNITED
5. ROCHESTER-28 PTS 5. ROCHESTER
6. SEYMOUR-24 PTS 6. MANSFIELD
7. SHEP SWANS-20 PTS 7. SEYMOUR
8. MANSFIELD- 20 PTS 8. SHEP SWANS

I think it will finish something like this.

1. Echuca
2. Mooroopna
3. Kyabram
4. United
5. Rochy
6. Mansfield
7. Swans
8. Tat
9. Seymour

I think the top 5 will remain pretty much the same. Of the remaining sides fighting for 6th Mansfield has the best draw. The Swans will have to beat sides above it which they are more than capable of doing. The 4 points from round 1 could decide whether they make it or not. Surely there has to be answer on this soon. They can't let it drag out to just before the finals.

Geez, it's quiet around these parts at the moment.

Fair call Tucky, especially with at least 2 interesting results over the weekend. I don't think many GV followers would have expected the cats to keep Rochy to 4 goals and inflict an 11 goal thrashing and most would have probably tipped Echuca to get over United, not to get taken to the sword.

Did anyone watch either of these games and if so, can they give a match report? Apparently high rated mooroopna recruit Jordan Souter had it on a string against the tiges, the win made more impressive with only average performances from front-liners Mick Gay, Russ Lee and Percy Roberts..

Given their tough run home, are Rochy a chance to miss out? And who goes into flag favouratism given the results over the weekend?

Gay was named 2nd best and dominated the ruck and around the ground. Dont read into the goal situation too much as wind was howling straight down the ground and Rochy didnt use it first or 3rd quarter.
Percy Roberts is Michael? who was well held by Knight and was shifted to a loose man in defence early 2nd quarter and stayed until into the 3rd quarter.

mooroopna too big and strong on a wet day.

I think Mansfield have the easiest run home and could easily replace Rochester as they have the hardest, if they cant win a couple of games. Seymour V Rochy at Moon oval this week is match of the year for both teams and an 8 point game.

Couple of big weeks ahead. With Echuca losing two in a row the Cats are sitting pretty, therefore the game against United this weekend is huge giving the Demons a chance at going up another spot on the ladder. Was at the game in Echuca and was extremely impressed with Shepp United. They shut down all of the threats that Echuca possessed their back line was awesome! Height and Murray were well held by number 7 from united and 23.
Will be a very interesting game this weekend!
