Bit bit of a harsh call on Zac Pallpratt. In his 4 games this year he has been best,3rd,2nd and 3rd best in a side that is sitting fourth.
Surely the side is picked on current form not on whether he was lucky to get a game in last years grand final(it was nothing to do with luck)
Interleague squads are seldom picked on form. It's about who you are and who you know. If it was picked on form how could Warnock get a gig? Only been in the best once and kicked a handful of goals in first few matches in a forward line without Mellington, Wolff and Exton

Fair call about Nick Warnock, probably struggling a bit at the moment getting the best defender instead of the 2nd or 3rd best.

The majority of young players don't want to join major leagues from district leagues other than for $$'s .
Inside there home Club they get to play with more of their mates . They can rightfully join VFL TAC squads from their home club and the time requirements aren't as high .
As such the need for GVFL clubs to have juniors ( from 12-13) fully integrated , including playing on the same day and at the same venue as the senior grade is becoming even more important .

I think this issue revolves around the High School situation. Rochy (speaking from experience only) have always had young blokes from Colbo, Stanhope, Elmore and Lockington/Bamawm in particular, come in to improve their footy rather than $$. If they prove themselves they probably earn some cash ultimately, but your point about playing with their mates while moving from district to major is pertinent, as most of these young blokes all went to Rochy High School. They still get to play with mates while testing themselves. I imagine Benalla, Seymour, Kyabram and Echuca experience the same. Tatura dont have a High School and not sure about Euroa or Mansfield but I suspect they do.

Euroa and Mansfield both have secondary colleges but pull kids from areas which also have clubs as does Rushworth P-12. The Shepparton teams have exploited this for years and now we have have Notre Dame aligned with the Bears, great for their future points allocations!

Interesting since it is the district clubs which seem to be throwing around the cash to unproven players from a major league.
Heard that before but what does it have to do with district kids who are playing senior footy not wanting to play major league footy like they did in the past ?
My post wasn't a intended cheap shot at major league clubs for paying district league players . It was an observation that the major league is not as attractive to district league players . Furthermore I think this means there is a greater need for major league clubs to develop their own from Auskick players within their own club .
A high reliance on district clubs to supply senior talent is a recipe for disaster especially under the new points system.
Furthermore , I am not a not fan of the junior comps I think they are having a negative effect on u18 and above junior numbers.
Don't think it is any coincidence that the two leagues , GVFL and KDFL , with under 18's and no Auskick to under 17/18 pathways are having player shortage at that age group .
It doesn't stem well for future numbers especially with the increased reliance on home grown players .

Where has he played cloud? Saw against rochy he played in a back pocket? Has he been playing their all year? Or was that a specific job to do on stroobants ?

So here's my interleague team from the squad selected if all available

B: Reid Riordon Miller/Phillips
HB: J.Morgan Smith Meredith
C: Squire Clifton Bacon
HF: Looby Morris/Visser J.Martyn
F: Stroobants Burston Antoniwiz?
R:Marchbank S.Martyn Filo
I/C from : Wall, Cole, L.Morgan, Allan, Willis, Ogdon

Bit hard to split some players. Haven't seen Visser before. Don't know if filo deserves that onball spot before someone like a Cole but reputation will get him over the line

That was the only week he played in the back pocket Johnno,he usually plays wing/half forward

Agree doggies, a lot of the players are proven. Seems to a few questionable players trying out from Benalla that aren't up to interleauge scratch, would assume Morgan had pushed them into the tryout squad as he helped with selection. Pretty dissapointing. Weird how there are 7 players from Benalla trying out and only 5 from Kybram, with Kyabram having a far better side with more players capable of playing in the interleauge squad.

Where are the mooroopna blokes? Surely there would be a couple worth a look?

I don't see a problem with Morgan, Marchbank, Priest, Warnock or the Martyn brothers being named in the squad. They were clearly the nucleus of a powerful Benalla side in 2015. Several played interleague last year and probably are deemed 'proven' performers. Palpratt is lucky to be in the squad but wont make the side. Assuming the Martinello's are injured? Perhaps several Kyabram blokes have indicated their unavailability... similar to Morrison medalist Ash Watson at Rochy.

Petiffer said no and Williams will be overseas again.

Nice team Johnno. I would have Priest in a pocket rather than Antoniwitz and Wall would start up forward in my side. Bacon will yet become a revelation to many in this comp.

Early in the 3rd Quarter and robjol's blockbuster is looking grim ... Seymour's wasteful kicking the only thing keeping Echuca in the game!

Hmmmmmmmmmm....Echuca sitting 2nd with 2 easy matches to come before the Kyabram blockbuster....who'd of thought.....

Nooooo ... robjoll mate, Echuca have blown the 1st easy match so no blockbuster against Kyabram now! United must be thinking they are a chance against the Murray Bombers next week ... who'd of thought?

Luckily Seymour had been attending the Levi Casboult school of goal kicking this week or it might have been an absolute flogging!
