Not that I'm aware of but it wasn't a good look....seeing a runner involved in the brawl. There were a few nasty incidents and as a result a few very heated brawls developed. I know the inter-league won last week but the bottom three sides in the comp this year are a long way off being competitive. Would think that the footage from the game will be closely looked at.
I had a pretty good view of the “brawl” ringo and ozzy didn’t throw one punch!! If were talking about footage that should be looked at it’s Simon Buckley that would be in hot water for clearly punching bayden fallon in the face! How he wasn’t reported is beyond me. The umpires have zero control these days, one of the scuffles could have been stopped if they just took the ball back to the center and balled it up.

Have heard of some thinking of it in 3rds . Not a fan, how are the developing / incoming / reserve players to learn boundary throw in techniques whether it be ruckmen or not.
It was brought in because too many teams couldn’t/ wouldn’t supply boundary umpires and when they did they were very controversial in their influence on the game according to the locals

Only saw 5 minutes of the seniors but their reserve teams would give our twos a run for their money. Much quicker than GV twos. Our book much better quality and more info. Going to Hume League next week so watch for my report
I was also down in Geelong watching Grovedale v Geelong West in the GFL. No charge at Grovedale and a free book.
Good game of footy with Grovedale winning by 5 goals.
Not sure how they raise their money but the standard looks a little bit better than the GV

I believe there is at least one league down that way that has agreements in place which sees the elague supply at no cost to clubs all books and football's . The clubs pay no admin , interleague or any other fees and the clubs get a 5 figure sum back each year.

Totally agree with the lack of control. The game in the second 1/4 was not a good look. If Ozzy didn't throw one punch what the hell was he doing in the mix as a runner? As you say throw the ball up and those wanting to brawl can brawl and those who want to play footy can do that.

100% should not have been in there, but again for the record he didn’t throw a punch. Buckley finished the game on the bench with ice on his hammy ringo, anyword on how bad?

Perhaps my view of it may of been different ..anyhow it is I think the third time Buckley has hurt his string. Won't play next week and must be in doubt for the following week V Rochy which is shaping up as a vital game for both teams. The finals race is really on with Ky, Benalla, Euroa and Shepp looking like locks. Mansfield a surprise packet so I'm thinking that the Rochy/ Echuca could determine who makes it.

May *have*

When a runner is involved in a brawl....he puts himself in the position that any action can be construed as a punch. He had his hands on an Echuca player and was dragging him out from behind it looked like a punch...maybe it wasn't but the RUNNER SHOULD NEVER BE INVOLVED!

Don't rate Tat as a finals chance?

An absolute no no !! Runners man handling opposition players.Played in a couple of games where that occurred and both times the runner finished up on his arse and rightfully so!!!

Report from Moon oval between beers

Rochy stuck with KY till 3/4 time

Then Ky showed who’s boss.

Rochy 6-7-43
KY. 18-14-122

KY probably kicked 10 in the last.
Ended up making the trip from Geelong in time to watch this match, as a spectator for the first time in 5 years! A much more entertaining game than the rolling maul at Kardinia Park last night, that has become typical of AFL.
Rochy’s pressure early was excellent around the stoppages causing Ky to miss their handball targets or get caught with the ball.
But same old story in the end, pressure needs to be for the entire game. While Ky still led by 5 goals at 3 quarter time, absolutely blew it apart in the last with Ogden turning it on.

At match between Leopold vs St Albans today. In the Geelong League ranked 3rd in the state, but guess how much to enter? $7 with free book!
Six dollar entry and three dollar record in the Riverland league in SA. The record is A4 size, in colour and has the A Grade (Senior) sides placed in listed positions on the ground. Waikerie A Grade players run around with a GPS monitor in the pocket on the back of the jumper.

Question...is it time for promotion/relegation for the GV?
We need old mate AlburyE inside this conversation but promotion/relegation is in my opinion a worthwhile goal.

To achieve that possibility we would need to have a situation where the GV and Bendigo (or parts of bothl) leagues combined. That said, how far is Maryborough to Benalla once a year? Not disimilar to Rochy to Mansfield.

Worth a conversation at least. A two tier system would be exciting in my opinion.

I hadn't really thought about the Bendigo League Silver but it has some merit. I was thinking of a three tier system of GV, Murray and Picola leagues. For the life of me I don't know how the bottom teams are going to get up and going under current jurisdictions.

Under the points system can see Ky winning four or five flags in a row Swans and the Cats on the bottom for a few more years and the rest treading water, what an exciting competition we have.

Won't work ringo, you end up having other sides in clubs getting smashed as well as increasing travel. The culture in the various leagues also vary massively as do the communities they play in.
Having likeminded communities playing against each other is crucial as are long serving rivalries.

Good points...really concerning to see the gap between the bottom 3 and the rest. Really hope the Swans and Mooroopna can find a way out of this. The issue is that the recruitment of players is somewhat hindered by points
