Decent effort some good kids at Seymour.

Had a very young group play on the weekend the Lions but didn’t look out of place against a team that is expected to be in the top 2 in the O&M. Wangaratta looked very good and I would love to see them play Kyabram when both sides are are full tilt. Would be a cracking contest IMO.

Seymour wont be in the top couple but finals are not out of the question. They will be very competitive and always hard to beat at home.

Going to have a look at Euroa this weekend who are much vaunted. Considering their recruiting, they should be very strong. Still think depth could be an issue as commonly occurs in smaller one team towns. Always remember that a champion team will beat a team of champions. With so many new players on board they may need time to gel too.

Forgot to mention that Paul Roos son in Tyler had a run with Wangaratta and he will be suiting up with them too when available. Not sure how they are going to manage the points situation with so many imports. His Father in Paul was an interested onlooker too.

Things must be very good financially up that way and maybe the year off has uncovered some type of “war chest”.

It certainly makes it hard for some of the lesser clubs such as North Albury, Wodonga and Corowa Rutherglen to remain competitive. The O&M is quite even at the top but drops away badly.

The myth regarding the financial demise of country clubs as a result of not playing in 2020 was created by those who profiteered from it . Unfortunately many clubs believed the scare campaign and handed out hard earned . Many are in a significantly better position financially than this time last year hence increased recruiting campaigns .

How are the bears travelling?
Hearing reports of low numbers and the possibility of them not having reserves
Hearing:

Very young senior 22
Numbers not an issue
Very keen to test themselves

They'll be quick ball movement for 4 quarters

Lots of talented kids, but they're kids

Mooroopna and Euroa have really strengthened their lists. Rochester and Ky have lost some but added some real quality top liners. Players such as Hellier, Keogh and Stroobants will be great to watch. Not sure how Benalla are shaping up nor Mansfield. My concern is that the gap has widened between the top few and the bottom 4 or 5.

Although not GVL related it’s rumoured Jamie MacMillan will be playing in the area .

Hey ringo1 Brad Scott was on SEN today to discuss and clarify the many rumours he had heard regarding country football and rumoured protocols .
Interestingly he didn’t mention and therefore seemingly hadn’t heard the one about no tackling .:p;)
Brad Scott..now perhaps he is like our politicians..didnt read the memo lol
