People on here have said recruit locally which all clubs would love to do but that simply isn’t possible for all clubs. The gvfl is a major league and bloody tough to win a flag in. A lot of clubs simply have to recruit and get locals back from the city to be competitive in this comp.

I’m not saying anything about where teams recruit from.

But a question for you.

You make a comment about the countless volunteers, who raise money plus put their own into clubs so they can put a side out on the park.

Don’t they deserve to actually have a side run out over the next few weeks.

My worry is
If the season is canned the Volunteers for the second year think. Shit. Why are we doing it.

It’s about everyone linked to a club.
There’s a window to do something ( yes compromised and it’s hard ) but hell. It’s something.

I bet which ever club wins even the seconds are going to celebrate long and hard.

I do feel sorry for the clubs that have been effected more than others. But shit over the last 2 yrs. I’ve learnt that nothing’s fair, nothing’s equal, and you live for the day.

But I’ve also tried to be positive with each situation and enjoyed what the crazy world has thrown at me and my family

I don’t think I have said call the season off, I have stated that the season is now 100% compromised and that I’m not sure that the premiers if we get that far will be deemed to be legitimate.

They haven’t started finals and permits aren’t able in the circumstance you’ve suggested .
Would GVL clubs want the season even further compromised by sides loading up with players from other leagues ?

What's the point if they can't watch? That's the great part of country footy, the whole community is involved, when you play well on Saturday, people stop you in the street and talk about the game, and I'm not sure you can just segregate poor echucas problems being a border town and keep playing. You'd have to think conservatively that it's impacting 25% of the entire club, and this could be long term. I'm yet to hear anything from Brad Scott or AFL Vic to provide any leadership for leagues

Don’t PDFL finals start this weekend? Ky had 3 players on permit from Lancaster reserves on Saturday which was allowed, is there a difference with PDFL permits?
Blokes like you have suggested we need to play at all costs. Getting numbers from lower leagues to fill a reserves side is hardly going to be seen as stacking I would suggest.

Yes they do start finals next time they play if they play again in 2021 , but it’s been announced that after meeting with clubs , yesterday, it won’t be this week .
Permit requirements , under area agreements , can vary between different leagues however there are some pre-requisites of all area agreements which prohibit the scenarios occurring as you have described .
Unfortunately many, if not most , leagues around the state have had clubs forfeit games including reserves games as they have attempted to get some football back playing , within the rules .
Ky might have got away with something outside overarching rules on the weekend ?

Edit : You of all people should be aware that stories and actions are screwed around to suit ones agenda , regardless of rules and or required protocols.

Ky played some lanky reserves due to lanky having a forfeit
They didn't alter the result but it got ky on the park who didn't want to forfeit
And 36 blokes got to play a game of footy
A positive for everyone involved

In that instance great , but what happens this week given Picola , Murray and O&M are all likely to not play.
GVL clubs go and recruit senior players like has already been floated ?
I’m tipping Holland , Wardle , Stevenson , Ryan would make a fair difference to the current Shepp Bears side .
Or if metro Melbourne is released from
Lockdown and GVL are stilling playing H&A and a side adds , McMillan , Wright and Tippett ??
Have other leagues recruited blokes on permit when the GVL decided not to play ??
Rules are never put in place to restrict good intentions they’re put in place to prevent mis-use.

Benalla should beat United and make themselves favourite for 5th position where they will finish IMO. 6th is down to Rochy v Mansfield at Moon Oval, or Mooroopna getting over Seymour at the Cattery!

Three into one position will certainly not work.

It’s rumoured Echuca has near 50 footballers or netballers who live in NSW and as such their stocks are going to be tested for what may be the remainder of the year .

I’ve also heard that the Ky/Wild appeal was unsuccessful and deemed frivolous and therefore KY lost $5.5 k, I’ve never heard of that ever occurring .
There apparently wasn’t even an investigation notice , which was acknowledged by the GVL , yet overlooked by the new appeals board .
 
The season is shot. Melbourne based players even if they can come back in time for finals will be unprepared with no team training. The season is totally compromised. As has been suggested have a minor premier and potentially finals for the junior grades. Sadly there are many senior players that have already given up on this season.

Just a practice match finals series if any playing for the chairman Dan covid cup .

I named 10 players last week who were missing last week, throw in whitford and 3 more this week that are in nsw. So 14 plus the 4 best players in the twos who are out injured.
I recon it will be the youngest side to ever run out for Ky in my memory. Recon Echuca will be in a similar if not worse position.
 
The percentage of games played with sides no where near the best is going to be significant as are what will proved missed opportunities with the inter league bye and split round ( s ).
Not only a large percentage of games without players being unavailable but also without crowds which will no doubt significantly affect clubs financially.
