What are leagues paying for these appointments , I am going to suggest at least $50 more per umpire .

$ 215 for a community league nearby which is the same amount league are charged .
Pretty sure senior umps are on $200. The GV umps have been going to the AFL over the last few years trying for more support($$) but as yet aren't having any success.

The GV umps receive 200 per major league and 150 minor( Kdl) surely not satisfactory if trying to entice ex players in taking up the whistle
If you average the salary cap out over the season it is around $350 per game per player. Umpires should be getting the average player pay or more.

On a different subject, I heard that Barnard is only travelling up for games and not training. When I heard it I thought it couldn’t possibly be the case but then I thought I’d run it past the brains trust. Is this actually the case at Tat?

Not sustainable if that is the case. Tatura needs a community-minded coach. If that is the case and he is being paid more than 15-20K then it is plainly wrong!

1/2 of them are paid overs too! (Players)
Paid overs based on what?

It's a contract agreed to by two parties

A offers X
B accepts and pays

No player is paid "overs"

Clubs make choices on what to pay

He may be talking about perceived value.
If a player gets 400 a game and stinks the joint out then hindsight says he was paid overs on what he was worth and he carries that tag to his next destination.
Potentially

Or Due Diligence is done and player is offered what club believes is fair value.

I've played with:
Plenty of blokes who "I " believe were paid UNDERS
And quite a few who "i" believe were paid OVERS

But amazingly given all the personal perception and opinions we were a very successful team

If your going to try and make an argument to bag the guys who actually make games happen please don’t bullshit stats to pump up your argument.

Please state when the last AFL game had only 20 frees paid. I’m meaning one game not the average like you and your mayo claim states
Yesterday giants vs Essendon 17 free kicks paid. Look it up.

Which quarter was that....
If I knew how to use my phone better I would post it here. It was infact the whole game, 17 free kicks! However you’re probably right the average would be closer to 35-40.

I watched Mansfield vs Euroa and mentioned it was over umpired which I was shot down for. Was just backing it up with evidence. Nothing more.

I think most leagues will be willing to pay umpires more , however there are many other matters which come with the arrangement which causes grief .

Some of these include :
Cost for umpires attending tribunal appearances , what occurs when player(s) are found not guilty ?
Expectation for drinks/food for umpires .
Admission to games including finals for games not officiating and/or fit family and friends .
Tribanal / investigation process if umpire becomes involved in an incident .
Dealing with complaints of either party .
Attempts have been made to negotiate these and others via a MOU and it hasn’t been well received .

2022 the average was just over 40
Just a tad higher than your 20.
You continued running down of umpires is wearing thin.
Without them we don’t have any games.

You don’t want umpires making mistakes.
Have a look at the GV guys who had more than 20 possessions Did anyone run at more than 80% accuracy?

Football is indeed a game of mistakes!

Trengrove would have to be in there
Hopefully he is worth it this year

I did correct myself yes closer to 40.
So if there were 70-80 calls in the Mansfield Euroa game would you say that possibly it may have been over umpired? Like I mentioned? Or no? Happy to put this to bed anyway I really don’t care enough, I’m to old. All I said was that it was over umpired. Evenly.
