The Bushrangers were a powerhouse at one stage, Unfortunately with the decline in standards in many catchment areas the quality of players appears to be deminishing. That don't have scholarships?
not to mention the amount of players who leave these areas on scholarships etc and are aligned with new nab league homesThe Bushrangers were a powerhouse at one stage, Unfortunately with the decline in standards in many catchment areas the quality of players appears to be deminishing.
They’ve tried driving kids into playing at O&M or GVL , much like VFL clubs trying to force players to have their chosen clubs/ leagues as the players home club .The Bushrangers were a powerhouse at one stage, Unfortunately with the decline in standards in many catchment areas the quality of players appears to be deminishing.
The best kids get scholarships and play for oakleigh or Sandringham when available. They’ve tried driving kids into playing at O&M or GVL , much like VFL clubs trying to force players to have their chosen clubs/ leagues as the players home club .
Players aren’t that keen on footy to be dictated to and are rebelling .
No it hasn’t always occurred , the bushrangers use to have a large amount of their squad from other leagues .The best kids get scholarships and play for oakleigh or Sandringham when available.
Hasn't that always happed roar, kosi went from he's home club into albury in the late 90s. The money for coaching tac cup hasn't kept up with private schools or clubland. Look at the ovens and murray last year, you had Schneider, a well regarded coach in afl circles, who came home, Stevie j, with plenty of afl coaching experience, Ben reid, who's now at the bulldogs as a coach, Anthony miles at Albury, Tim broomhead at North Albury and Sam Murray and Geoff at rovers. Add lynch and crezza this year and heatley. Mark Brown might be a good coach, but he hasn't been at afl club for a long time to see training and playing standards and styles.
Add to the fact the travel involved to play, where 2-3 guys might get drafted out of 40, some parents might just think play senior footy and play with your Mayes and concentrate on year 12.
Kids get sick of the not what you know who you know attitude. No it hasn’t always occurred , the bushrangers use to have a large amount of their squad from other leagues .

There are multiple kids in the bushies squad that aren’t in the top 5 players in there local team.
I'm sorry; I take offense to that. Ray Carroll was not a Christian Brother and was highly respected. Howard Clarke at St Pats was an outstanding mentor. There were no scholarships at Assumption. For schools to claim these kids as part of the factory or the program is laughable. They can have it - pathetic in every sense of the word. Started by Assumption College lets not forget that. Cherry picking out of the bush for years closely followed by St Patricks. To think they all actually believed that the Christian brother Carroll was a guru coach - had the cattle - simple as that. Flogs
Only country league it seems to really happen now is the ovens and murrayDoes anyone else remember the golden days of big-name recruits and the excitement that used to bring over summer?
Yes but that is when people also turned up to watch and engage with their local club , not sit at home and watch the AFL competition on any day of the week ..Does anyone else remember the golden days of big-name recruits and the excitement that used to bring over summer?
Echuca guys seemed to wish him the best from what I saw, you'll always lose a couple on your listWillis gone too Wandin, didn’t he get kicked out of Echuca years ago then they let him come back? Wins a flag then goes again. Says a lot about him as a bloke

I think this is wide of the mark. Willis became a popular and much liked player inside the club.Willis gone too Wandin, didn’t he get kicked out of Echuca years ago then they let him come back? Wins a flag then goes again. Says a lot about him as a bloke

They have plenty of good players in reserves and thirdsEchuca guys seemed to wish him the best from what I saw, you'll always lose a couple on your list
Exactly they have plenty of talentThey have plenty of good players in reserves and thirds
Their depth is easily the best in the league
I would have thought he has done the correct thing with the depth of talent waiting for a chance. Similar to Morris retiring.I think this is wide of the mark. Willis became a popular and much liked player inside the club.
Yep I'd think they'd have a minimum 10 guys from last year's reserves and seniors that'd make an immediate impact for any other gv sideI would have thought he has done the correct thing with the depth of talent waiting for a chance. Similar to Morris retiring.
They've got plenty in their thirds and reserves ringoEchuca will need to find some quality.
Tenace and C Willoughby - Carlton VFL ( Not sure if they will play but in the mix)
S Willoughby- QLD/
A Byrne- Qld
Prout- Carlton VFL- Aberfeldie
K Morris- not sure if he is going around again?
Matt Lias and a few reserves players i understand have left to Echuca UnitedThey've got plenty in their thirds and reserves ringo
If you lose your two rucks, a couple of gun mids, a key forward etc they will be hard to replace. For mine, Morris would be the biggest loss as his presence and ability to kick goals whilst resting forward will be sorely missed if he retires. They've got plenty in their thirds and reserves ringo
