Seymour copping a hard hit.Rigoni to North Albury and Mason aligning with Collingwood Vfl.Wish nothing but the best for both of em.Genuine stars who will be sorely missed.I think Mason could go even higher with hard work and further improvement.

Reason being many bypass the Gv (and premier standard leagues)is lots of District ( and lower division)clubs throw absurd sums of money at em.Unfortunately heaps of fellas are more interested in playing a lower level as it requires less commitment and easy money (plus the fact they stand out ).We're into November and not one big signing in the gv yet. This was unheard of 10 years ago
Does Callum Brown at Mansfield count? He is the only oneWe're into November and not one big signing in the gv yet. This was unheard of 10 years ago
Yep my apologies silver, missed brown, will he's brother line up too?Does Callum Brown at Mansfield count? He is the only one
A well known big paying clubs President looked me in the eye the other day and said" We don't worry about the cap, we just pay cash..it's our word against theirs and they can't prove it"!Reason being many bypass the Gv (and premier standard leagues)is lots of District ( and lower division)clubs throw absurd sums of money at em.Unfortunately heaps of fellas are more interested in playing a lower level as it requires less commitment and easy money (plus the fact they stand out ).
I know of spud players getting $600 plus in $hit comps and its only getting worse.God bless the volunteers.
Part of the answer to the problem is forced closure of some of the shit district clubs. The reality is there is no community. There is a memory of yesteryear. Put the squeeze on some of those clubs with no population or juniors. Kill off the shit little clubs for a start.Reason being many bypass the Gv (and premier standard leagues)is lots of District ( and lower division)clubs throw absurd sums of money at em.Unfortunately heaps of fellas are more interested in playing a lower level as it requires less commitment and easy money (plus the fact they stand out ).

A well known metro club in the west of Melbourne now playing in the EDFL . Some clubs are playing with a cap .. others aren’t !Which league Ringo? Are we talking Goulburn Valley or Geelong?
All the more reason to get rid of salary caps and tighten up points. Points is where you stop the mercenaries.
whoever could this club be. one of life's great mysteriesA well known metro club in the west of Melbourne now playing in the EDFL . Some clubs are playing with a cap .. others aren’t !

Everything is against community/district clubs including things like the points system and pathway systems .Reason being many bypass the Gv (and premier standard leagues)is lots of District ( and lower division)clubs throw absurd sums of money at em.Unfortunately heaps of fellas are more interested in playing a lower level as it requires less commitment and easy money (plus the fact they stand out ).

It really is time to return to self governed leagues, no cap, nor points because the longer this continues the more damage is being done to community football. The problem is the afl look at the American system, where in their sports there is no sport post high school locally. Our game is built from the English style where every town has a club. The afl don't want community sport, as they see that as people not watching afl and loss of income
I'm not sure a dog eat dog world would be great either mate. I'd like to see a far even playing field and promote young guys to play major league footy and over 30 to play minor league footy, with under 23 to be 1 point to transfer from minor to major and over 32 1 point from major to minor. It really is time to return to self governed leagues, no cap, nor points because the longer this continues the more damage is being done to community football.

Otherwise clubs like deer Park won't care, and buy 22 players, some might suggest they don't now, but they didn't play finals this year and they can't just get whoever they want.
I reckon you'd have queues of guys playing for the premiership teams if afl vic did nothing, and we'd see 15 + guys move around with the one coach and destroy a club each time they move. I'm not sure that's coaching.
But there has to be greater incentive for guys to play footy in.the country, keep kids involved after they turn 18 or younger, stop the better teams getting better, where we have tiered comps and allow bottom teams to go from finishing last to being a chance of winning the flag next year, otherwise if there's no hope, players will keep leaving bottom clubs
There also needs to be greater incentives for the best players to play major league footy
I know mate, its not an even playing field and nigh impossible for a coach without financial or employment backing to be on an even keelI'm all for a Cap if it is enforced but it's not. Some clubs are cheating and apart from Deer Park and Wang Magpies, there has been little enforcement of the rules. We have players again following the money. It's time for this sort of stuff to be investigated or get rid of the cap. Football quality in the country is diminishing each year. The Bendigo League is on its knees. Its time for a review!
- Deer Park will do just that ..buy a flag this year. It is their second year in the EDFL and they will do whatever it takes.
- 2 VFL players join an O&M club for 40K each
- One player in the NCFL was on 70K just to play, another offered 65K to join a club in that comp this year
- Coach in the Bellarine League on a reported 65-70K
- A club in another strong league are giving away blocks of land
- Better teams are staying up top because all other teams have the same Cap and in some instances points
- 2 GV players offered 30K each to play in the NCFL
- Hoppers Crossing flew in Jed Anderson from Darwin and another from the Gold Coast, resulting in winning the flag by a point.
If everyone played by the rules then we would be fine mateI know mate, its not an even playing field and nigh impossible for a coach without financial or employment backing to be on an even keel

IMO Deer Park won't because they'll have zero depth & will struggle to fit everyone within the points cap.I'm all for a Cap if it is enforced but it's not.
