That is true. Where Milward goes so does Singh and probably midfielder Justin Arnold. Have heard this numerous times from very reputable Bendigo Footy people
Not much on Benalla here lads my spys tell me Matt Sharp Is flying and ready for a big year, no real recurits but inclusions off the long term injury list will be make them more than competive, Mark McKenzie is fully fit, Jimmy Martiniello is ready for game one, Ben Fahey looks huge, sam Harris, Nick Abley, big Cal Firth had interupted years are right, Duncan McKenzie returned as well as ex Bushies Al Jacka & Brook Martin, 6 or 7 wins may be not out of the question, your thoughts?

Hopefully Benalla make some progress. They certainly could improve but the problem may be that the league looks much stronger than last year so they will need to make up a fair bit of ground.

Will Saad be running around again for lions no heart?
heard he may be on the move, but I hear this every year.

Have heard the Lions are tightening the purse strings

FOOTYBOSS, I here the same as well mate, we all hope he stays but every year we hear hes going here or hes going there,I really dont think he will leave us, but in saying that I dont know what goes on in that head of his, if he did go I could see him either going back to Northcote Park or he would follow SJ to Congupna. By the way it was great to see the carpet up to his old antics at the Bucks day, carpet arse at his best:thumbsu::thumbsu:

Ringo1, Not really tightning the strings, until this year we have played in the last 4 grand Finals with huge success winning 3 seniors 2 Ressies and an u18s flag, and now is the time to play the kids and start bringing them on for a couple of years, we had our go up there, and now other teams get their go, its just about taking your chance when the window is open, I dont think Habes is going to play this year[ well he said that last time we where chatting] and hes happy to play the kids and hopefully finish around the bottom of the 6 again, but it looks like the league is going to step up again.

Being an old Seymour boy it has been great to see a couple of very successful eras-late 70's,early 80's,91 and obviously the great effort of the last 5 years. I am sure that the culture will continue to be strong and as you say the lions are as good a chance as any to play finals again next year. It does look like the league is going to really step up!

Remember Singh was not wanted at Ky this year so why would they go near him again??? Pretty much the biggest mercenary in football
They may not want him, but may need him, as there a few senior players a little annoyed at ky's lack of recruiting after losing so many. as for being the biggest mercenary in football, he's closely followed by ex balranald team mate andrew may, whos made himself available to the highest bidder. Interested Ringo?

Word is there has been contact between Singh and Ky, Singh's asking price and what Ky are prepared to pay him is a fair way off at the moment though, so will be interesting to see what pans out.

It should be that Willams is fourth played from Echuca drafted in the national draft in the past 7 years, not third.
But, the others mentioned were all rookie drafted!

Archard- Adelaide- 2006 Rookie Draft
McGlone- Sydney- 2003 Rookie Draft
Kirkby- Hawthorn- 2004 Rookie Draft
Height- Hawthorn- 2004 Rookie Draft

Jordan Williams was picked in the national draft- not the rookie draft!

Eljay is the one missed (picked at 70 in 2007 draft). As for Sam Sheldon- he is listed in the AFL bible as being drafted at pick 70 in 2006 draft from the Oakley Charges- not Echuca or even Bendigo Pioneers!

There was a mistake but I would be looking at your own 'sloppy research' roccafrom50.....before you have a crack..

That's fine, but the story in the paper did not specify which draft, so to say ``Jordan follows Carlton's Andrew Walker and Richmond's Daniel Connors as the third player to be drafted from Echuca in seven years'' is wrong. If it had specified rookie or pre-season draft, the statement would be correct. But it didn’t, so the statement is incorrect.

I can't see how you can be having a crack at my research. What I said was correct from what I can see. I wasn't 100% sure about Sam Sheldon being drafted from Echuca, but the story stated that only three had been drafted, not eight, which is the correct number.

I agree with yeehaaaaaaaaaaa though. From what I’ve seen and heard, the Riv Herald does seem to leave a lot to be desired when it comes to reporting the news. Friends of mine from Echuca tell me the newsroom is made up of kids barely out of nappies, which if true, isn’t a good thing. Compromising product quality to make bucket loads of money is not a good thing.

Anyway, that’s all I have to say. Didn’t think what I said would cause such an uproar. Anyone would think half the people on here work at this newspaper.

Maybe you should do some research then mate instead of naming names 'off the top of your head'

Are you an alias of gotigs’ or his best mate?

No Frankky but thanks anyway

Mensch has indicated that he will continue. Sheehan is living in Northern NSW and Bernie Jones looks like joining the RAAF. They appear to be the only losses at this stage. I'm sure Kelly will ensure some ins

The whole Riv sporting section is now just utter rubbish which wreaks of lazy journalism.
Obviously the fat cat sports journos, thought they had some insight into Jordan Williams, so they spent 4 times as much space as needed to get their point across and still stuffed it up, how many times do you hear of a footballer referred to as where they live . FFS
" Waverly Footballer Brendon Fevola caught stuffing up at Brownlow " as if.
Can't remember the last time the Riv sports gurus actually broke any sports news, most of the stuff found in there has been common knowledge and debated to death by most, before it appears in " The Riv "
I'm all for working for the dole or giving kids work experience but when its so pro-longed and they don't discount it as such, its beyond a joke !!
Perhaps they should start making the sports section out of scented, 3 ply and include perforation ??

Perhaps some interviews with players/coaches from the three clubs in town would be good. I really don't understand how Mathoura and Lockington 'steal' the back page on a regular basis. The major league is the GV and then the Murray League. I feel a bit for the young journo there as he does it all by himself:eek: My biggest gripe is the state that Vic Park is in. The council should be ashamed to have it look as it does-Shame,shame,shame!!
