Because he has had 24 years in administration and is seeking fresh challenges?

None of us know or will ever likely know, and really it doesn’t matter. He was head hunted for a role, came to the club and performed that role very very well, and now wants to move on. I’m not sure why there’s any angst about it. I’m happy to thank him for his contribution, and move on.

I guess excuse me for wanting a good football manager to stay with the club

We can’t make him stay and he’s not that useful imho if he doesn’t want to be there.

I know

My question was wondering why we wanted to leave so quickly.

It just seemed incredibly odd to me and “wanting a break” doesn’t hold water personally given we have him a 6 month break and he still wanted to leave

That’s ok that you’re choosing to see it at face value.

I’m not

I’m not

Don’t understand your obsession with it only being 3 years when in reality it’s 35 years in VFL/AFL footy. It’s a fcuking long time in any career.

Face value at least allows for less angst driven posting on BF.

Depends on the job, but then even the same job at a different club would offer a different challenge I’d assume.
Sorry, can't accept that. I feel that is more that we will never know.

Nothing wrong with questioning how this has turned out.

It’s been discussed here many times - and entirely plausible.
Sure discussed as a possibility, just like what you posted re wife.
What other explanations have been suggested?
Many but all speculation. Reasonable to ask why after 2 and half years in the job with us.

However I disagree it took him 6 months to decide, was offered the time to reconsider.

So he made a decision this week after having 6 months of consideration.

I believe he had already made up his mind when he told the club.

I just hope we didn't pay for his time away.

Exactly

Anyone here who has had a long career can see the attractiveness of a sabbatical

4-6 weeks ago Browne gave an interview and "suggested" there may not be a role for Wrighty when he came back. This was the first inkling Wright would not be back. Softening the fan base up for his departure. Browne said Leppa was doing brilliant things in list management and Bolts was doing great GM things. Like what? Browne said the club was looking for roles that would be suitable for Wrighty. It was alleged there was tension this season between Ned and Wrighty. It could be simple as one believing a rebuild was required vs Ned wanting to press on next year. Wright's reason for leaving will come out in time in someone's autobiography

exactly. the selfish nimrods complaining about this obviously have nothing else in their lives than the Collinwood football club - sad really.

we should be thanking him for what he did for us in the time he was here.

Other than for the consultancy he (apparently) provided while he was away you mean. I doubt it. Could only happen if he was accessing leave entitlements. I’d have thought and he wasn’t at the club long enough to accrue 5 months worth of leave.

Safe to assume any financial arrangements were made between legally competent, consenting adults.

You said he left “quickly” which clearly was not the case - it took him 6 months.
Another example of you distorting the facts.

The entire time I’ve spoken about Wright leaving. It’s been about how he’s leaving us after only 3 years

To me that’s quickly given he was at Hawthorn for 15+

Not sure why you’re hyper focusing on this time aspect to create a debate out of it. But then again, I am sure why. It’s you and you’re replying to me.
