ROSS LYON IS A GENIUS.

Emergencies last week:

Emg: Steven Baker, Jarryn Geary, Jack Steven

Emergencies THIS week:

Emg: Jarryn Geary, Ben McEvoy, Rhys Stanley

NOTICE that the saints website ran a puff piece this week about Ben McEvoy and how awesome he is. Why would they do that if he was going to get dropped? Also, why would they then submit a puff piece to the AFL about Stanley running the GF sprint and then name him as the emergency? Especially when he wasn't named last week or the week before?

It's SIMPLE. How do you beat Collingwood's swarm? Long kicks to strong-bodied, marking talls. A la McEvoy and Stanley. Bringing in Stanley doesn't really make us "top heavy" because he's as agile and mobile as any smaller player. What he does add is another tall marking option which we need to kick over the mongrel pack that swarms around each player. Not to mention he's bloody quick and could provide the injection of pace that we need to break the game open.

Now, Micky is going to be thinking "derp derp keep game plan the same!!!" and then be absolutely CLUSTER****ED when we bring in McEvoy for Baker (who's OBVIOUSLY still carrying an injury) and Stanley for McQualter...

I called it here first

Mcevoy will stay out of the team
Blake will have the role to follow leigh brown all over the ground. When l.brown goes foward Blake will play on him when brown goes to the ruck Blake will ruck a bit and Kozi will have a go in the ruck too.
Baker will play on a small foward and if it is didak Jones will play on swan and if Baker doesnt play on didak it will be leon davis. Jones will tag didak and Dempster will either play on a small foward too, like thomas or he will play a defensive foward role on shaw, maxwell or harry-o

thats what i reckon

I think Jones might be better off taking Pendlebury, he is more dangerous with his disposal than Swan and more susceptible to a tag. Dempster and Baker to take either Davis or Didak and Blake to run with Brown. Would be happy enough with those match ups.

I dont know whny everyone runs u guys down for not having enough pace.
I think with peake, stanley, goddard and farren ray you have plenty of pace to beat the pies.
Also might add that clinton jones also has pace and has beaten ablett who is a brwonlow medallist so he should account for an inexperienced dane swan.
Please win the flag I was barracking for u guys in 1997 and 2009.
I love the saints as my second team and am nervous but excited for ur mob.
Im hoping kosi fires in a big way and the spur of losing last years in the dying moments gets u guys over the line.
im haqnging to stick it to so many work colleagues, just been shutting my mouth silently seething over their favouritism.
GO SAINTERS GO HARD.:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

You were barracking for us in '97?

Sure you have listed your team correctly?

Blake on Brown. Baker on Didak.

with Davis in the team, Didak will play up the field.

Didak will be an extra midfielder.

that is why Davis is in the team to tag Baker.

Good luck watching a bloke who hasn't played for 12 weeks chase Ddiak around and blow up by the 10 minute mark of the first quarter.

Baker will go to Davis.

I'd agree with that, Hayes can run head 2 head with Swan and we'll pretty much be assured of a break even scenario at worst, you then have BJ, Dal, Joey, Peake and Faz on the outside compared to Wellingham, Daisy, Blair, Ball and David Jones. Arguably more "quality" on our side when you then consider Jones will go to one of Pendlebury or Wellingham to "shut out" the run, Bj will probably line up on Daisy and you'll end up with someone like Blair on a Dal Santo or Joey to then try and exploit going our way.

Didak and Davis then covered with Baker and Dempster and you then only have to worry about McCafe, Girder and Arsealot who would be taken by one of Gilbert, Fisher, Blake or Dawson.

No point tagging Swan heavily since he's not a "prime mover" of the footy more a link player and Ball is a secondary gatherer if you do manage to shut Swan out. Go instead for the options and force them to go solo or try to engineer another option and you then limit the variables.

I will wait till the final teams are announced 90 mins before, but, if Mcevoy does not play I will not be renewing my membership.

No strength through loyalty there at all.

yeah i agree pendlebury is dangerous and worth tagging but during the week Jones said that he usually gets didak or swann and he is expecting to get one of the two this saturday and i have noticed the last two times we have lined up against collingwood Jones has played on didak for majority of the time.
Carn the Saints!!

I am starting to worry about Jason Gram.

Another answer to this strange selection is that Gram/Dal Santo (more likely Gram) will not get up and McEvoy will come back in.

And what about if we win?

Still wont renew.

Mcevoy is a part of the future of Stkilda, we cant afford to lose him. If its good enough to use him all year to reach a GF its a good enough to honor his commitment and let him play the GF.

Kosi should be dropped ahead of Mcevoy. Full stop.

I dare anyone to say Kosi has more runs on the board this year than Mcevoy.

To be honest, I think it's the final team.

Lyon wants pace. McEvoy doesn't really offer that. That's how I see it. Why would Ross Lyon stuff around with that? Collingwood won't be phazed if McEvoy comes in or not. Unless Nicky Dal or Grammy don't pull through, no changes. Bakes will be fine, he's fresh and should be ready to go. I have faith in him.

Playing the best 22 is what matters. Commitment aside (look at Max Hudghton) we need the best players out there, regardless. I'm backing Ross's decision.

This is stupid. Ross Lyon is the coach and he decides. He has been a good enough coach to get us to two GFs in a row. If he gives this list, he has a reason. If you think so much that he is wrong with this up to the point to decide not to renew your membership next year, you are just quitting not only on the players but also on the club. I'm not saying RL cannot be wrong, I'm saying your sentence is irrational and plain stupid. St Kilda doesn't need fans like you. You can argue some decisions by whoever runs the club (board, coach, other staff) might be wrong, you may disagree with some, but you don't quit on your club because of this. If anything, you show your disagreement and then, you shut up and keep giving your unconditional support to your club. Because that is what us fans are: unconditional supporters.
